7、 International Trade and Industry through deliberation at the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee in accordance with the Industrial Standardization Law. This Standard specifies the testing methods of water hammer of equipment for water supply service designed to prevent from occurrence of the wa

8、ter hammer. The Japanese Industrial Standards in connection with this Standard are given below a). 14、ter hammer of equipment for water supply service in line with the ordinance revised in 1997, standards for structure and material of water supply systems under the Water Works Law, for the purpose of more comprehension and effective application of the testing methods and serviceabil- ity to users. 1

15、 Scope This Standard specifying the testing methods of water hammer applies to such equipment for water supply service designed to prevent from occurrence of the water hammer as faucets other than water stop valve, electric storage tank wa- ter heaters, gas burning water heaters, oil burning water h

16、eaters, etc. 2 Device The deviceishall be as given in Fig. 1 and the installation of a pipe, a combination faucet and a pressure measuring instrument and piping material shall be as follows. The diameter of pipe shall not be less than the nominal diameter of the equip- ment to be tested. Furthermore

17、, a straight pipe shall be used for horizontal piping, its diameter shall be equal to the nominal diameter of the equipment to be tested and the distance from the starting point of the horizontal pipe to the pressure measuring instrument shall be 10 m. The combination faucet shall be piped at either

18、 inlet side of usual water or hot water. The equipment to be tested other than the combination faucet having the same type of multi-mechanism to prevent from occurrence of the water hammer, shall be piped at any of them. The pressure measuring instrument shall be of superior response capable of ac-

19、tive measuring and recording of the maximum value of water hammer. The pressure measuring instrument shall be fixed at horizontal distance of 1 m from the inlet of equipment to be tested. However, the velocity meter may be fixed to any position on the horizontal pipe. Piping material shall not readi

20、ly be corrosive pipe inside and expansive such as unplasticized polyvinyl chloride lining steel pipes for water works, polyethylene powder lining steel pipes for water supply or at least equivalent. 22、mple of device for water hammer testing 3 Procedure The testing procedure shall be as follows. of water-stop mechanisms where those multiple mechanisms are all identical. a) Equipment with water-stop mechanism to be closed by hand The equipment to be tested such as the combination faucet may be test

23、ed on any The equipment to be tested shall be fixed in the usual operating state to the testing device specified in above 2. The water-stop mechanism shall be opened and water of ordinary tempera- ture shall be flowed through the equipment to be tested sufficiently to remove the inside air. The equi

24、pment to be tested shall be kept fully opened (l) and water at ordi- nary temperature shall be run through it until either condition (2) of water velocity of 2 m/s or hydrodynamic pressure of 0.15 MPa becomes stable. Notes (9 For equipment with the water-stop mechanism closed and opened by turning a

25、 wheel, it shall be positioned to the angle of 120“ to open. For equipment with the water-stop mechanism fully opened by less turning angle, it shall be positioned to the maximum an- gle to open. Fulfillment of either condition of the water velocity or the hydro- dynamic pressure is required for tes

26、ting. When the test is car- ried out checking both conditions, provided that the hydrodynamic pressure shall reach 0.15 MPa, the water velocity may not reach 2 d s . The water-stop mechanism of the equipment to be tested shall be closed in 0.5 s as the standard duration, from the stable condition of

27、 running water specified in above 3 ) . The increase of pressure (3) due to water hammer occurred shall be mea- sured. 29、to be tested shall be fixed to the device described in above 2 in the usual operating state. The water-stop mechanism of the equipment to be tested shall be opened, and filled up with water at ordinary temperature to remove the inside air. The equipment to be tested shall be fully opened and water a

30、t ordinary temperature shall be run through it until either condition (2) of water veloc- ity of 2 m/s or hydrodynamic pressure of 0.15 MPa becomes stable. The water-stop mechanism of the equipment to be tested shall be closed automatically while keeping the state of running water specified in above

31、 3 ) . The increase of pressure (3) due to water hammer occurred shall be mea- sured.
