Scope .This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the testing methods for acoustic emission (hereafter referred to as the “AE) carried out during the pressure tests of metallic pressure vessels a
5、nd their piping systems (hereafter referred to as the “pressure vessels, etc.“). - h Remarks: The standard cited in this Standard is as shown below. JIS Z 2300 Glossary of terms used in nondestructive testing 2. Definition The definitions of main terms used in this standard shall be as specified in
6、a JIs z 2300. 3. Treatment of abnormalities during tests When an abnormal occurrence of AE is observed during the tests, the tester shall promptly notify the person in charge of the pressure test and ask him to decide whether to continue or discontinue pressure application. Where pressure applicatio
7、n is discontinued, the location where AE has occurred abnormally shall be examined by other methods. 4. Test engineer The persons conducting the test shall have sufficient knowledge and experience about the AE test carried out during the pressure test of pressure vessels, etc. 5. Preparation for tes
8、t 5.1 Preliminary study The owner of the pressure vessel shall preliminarily give the following items of information to the test engineer. 1i (3) (4) (5) Arrangement plan showing the positional relations between the pressure vessel, etc. and its surroundings Drawing showing the shapes of pressure ve

11、 items of information necessary for carrying out the test. 5.2 Test apparatus A standard constitution of test apparatus is shown in Fig. 1. The test apparatus shall have sufficient numbers of AE transducers and measuring channels for closely observing the whole region or a specific region of the pre
12、ssure vessel and its piping system. Further, the test apparatus shall be capable of recording the manner of occurrence of AE as a function of pressure or time and indicating the manner of occurrence with the undermentioned three kinds of parameters. Besides, the specifications of the test apparatus
13、in the form of Table 1 shall be decided by preliminary consultation. 17、 shall be calibrated by use of artificial AE sources. location shall satisfy the value preliminarily agreed on by consultation. This examination shall desirably be performed with the pressure vessel filled with a fluid by using artificial AE sources. o 5.5 Arrangement of AE transducers The AE transducers shall be arranged in such a m
19、anner that the AE waves from the region under test can be detected by a minimum number of transducers necessary for AE source location. Further, the AE transducers shall be contacted with the surfaces of the pressure vessels, etc. so as t o produce sufficient sound combination. , 5.6 Means of commun
20、ication Means shall preliminarily be established to allow constant communication between the place of installation of test apparatus and that of the pressure applying apparatus. Test procedure 6.1 Confirmation of operability of AE transducers The manner of sound combination of AE transducers and their connection shall be confirmed succeeding the installation of AE transducers and the assembly of t
23、est apparatus and again, immediately after completion of the test. 6.2 Measurement of intensity of background noise For all the channels used in the test, the intensity (peak voltage value) of background noise shall be measured and recorded. taken to shutting it off. 26、test shall be adjusted not to cause actuation due to background noises. In this case, the test shall be performed by filling the pressure vessel with the same content as in the pressure test. 6.4 Procedure of applying pressure to pressure vessel The procedure of applying pressure to the pressure ves
27、sel shall be as follows: (i) Pressure application speed safety devices, etc. Apply pressure by using the specified fluid, Use such a pressure applying speed as allows the AE test to be performed under minimum noise conditions. (2) Means of pressure application Generally, use pressure application ste
28、ps of 50 %, 65 %, 85 %, and 100 % of maximum test pressure. In each step, use a pressure retention time of 10 minutes, but make the final retention time at least 30 minutes. For this purpose, the pressure application apparatus shall have the function to retain pressure at the specified values. Stopp

Z 2342-1991 6.6 Pressure measurement Continuously measure the pressure values and record them in such a way that their correspondence to the records of respective AE signals can be recognized. 7. Classification of test results The AE source
33、s assumed from the results of AE test shall be classified into the following three kinds by consulation. (1) (2) Class A Class B Location where a remarkably large quantity of AE occurred.
