、1. SCOPE This Standard Practice delineates a method for quali- fication of elastomer diaphragms, in accordance with methodology and documentation as described in Ap- pendix QR-B of ASME QME-1, that are intended for use in ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, Classes 2 and 3 diaphragm v

、alves. In addition, this Standard Practice establishes methods for production verification and for the development of service limits for elastomer diaphragms. 2. OUALIFICATION 2.1 The valve manufacturer shall prepare a test plan that details the procedures used to comply with the required tests of S

、ection 2.2. The test plan shall state the rationale used to select the thermal aging temperature and time, radiation aging total dose, and pressure and temperature for the wear aging or cycle life test. 2.2 A specific diaphragm size, compound, design, and construction may be qualified by type testin

、g. For each qualification step, testing shall be conducted on representative production diaphragms from the same batch. This type testing shall include: 2.2.1 Thermal aging to qualiS, for a minimum period of time, as specified in Section 4.0. The thermal aging test may be based on the Arrhenius Law

、to determine aging time and temperature. 2.2.2 Radiation aging to a total dose levei at least equal to the requirements of the Design Specifica- tion or a dose level equivalent to the service life, as specified in Section 4.0. 2.2.3 Wear aging to quaiiS, the elastomer diaphragm for the service life

、limitations specified in Section 4.0. The wear aging test shall include the effects of pressure, temperature, and cycles, simultaneously. 2.3 Each size diaphragm shall be subjected to a baseline life cycle test at a pressure and tempera- ture established by the valve manufacturer. This test data wil

、l be used to establish acceptance criteria for production lot cyclic test specified in Section 3.1.4. 2.4 Thermal aging and wear testing conducted at two different pressurehemperature combinations may be used to qualify the diaphragm for all conditions enveloped by the two points with equal or less

、radia- tion exposure. 3. PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS 3.1 To verify that production diaphragms are equivalent to diaphragms qualified by the procedures for Section 2.0, the following minimum requirements shall be met: 3.1.1 Certification of compound by Certificate of Compliance from diaphragm manufacture

、r for each batch. 3.1.2 Verification of tensile strength, modulus, and elongation properties for each batch of the elastomer compound per ASTM D 412. 3.1.3 Production lot visual, dimensional, and durom- eter examination to sampling procedure in accordance with ANSI ASQC Z1.4, General Inspection Leve

、l III, AQL 0.40. In addition, all diaphragms for valves over NPS 2 shall be durometer tested in accordance with ASTM D 2240. 3.1.4 Cycle test one diaphragm from each produc- tion lot in accordance to the life cycle test estab- lished in Section 2.3. 1 -,-,- MSS STANDARD PRACTICE SP-1 O0 4. 19、IMITATIONS 4.1 Service limitations shall include limitations on diaphragm flexure cycles (full stroking, close-open- close or open-close-open), time in service and stor- age life as follows: 4.1.1 The required diaphragm cycle/flexure life shall not exceed 1/3 the minimum cycle life established by th

、e requirements of Section 2.0. 4.1.2 The service life of the elastomeric diaphragm shall not exceed five years, and the combined ser- vice and storage life of the diaphragm shall not ex- ceed ten years. 5. 21、ch code. 6. DOCUMENTATION 6.1 The testing performed in accordance with the requirements of Section 2.0 shall be documented in a test report that shall include the test plan. 6.2 An applications report shall be prepared to show the suitability of the specific diaphragm for service defined by a Design

、 Specification. 6.3 In lieu of compliance with service life required by the Design Specification, the applications report shall recommend the required diaphragm replace- ment life or qualified service life based on time and/ or cycles based on the data in the test report. 5.1 the month and year of m
