、SIONS: 4.1Responsibility for Inspection: The vendor of sponge shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for performing all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the sponge conforms to t
、he requirements of this specification. 4.2Classification of Tests: Tests for all technical requirements are acceptance tests and preproduction tests and shall be performed prior to or on the initial shipment of sponge to a purchaser, on each lot, when a change in ingredients and/or processing requir
、es reapproval as in 4.4.2, and when purchaser deems confirmatory testing to be required. 4.2.1For direct U.S. Military procurement, substantiating test data and, when requested, preproduction test material shall be submitted to the cognizant agency as directed by the procuring activity, contracting
、officer, or request for procurement. 4.3Sampling and Testing: Shall be as follows: 4.3.1For Acceptance Tests: Sufficient sponge shall be taken at random from each lot to perform all required tests. The number of determinations for each requirement shall be as specified in the applicable test procedu
、re or, if not specified therein, not less than three. 4.3.1.1A batch shall be all material run through a mixer at one time. 4.3.1.2A lot shall be not more than 2500 pounds (1134 kg) of sponge from one batch. 4.3.1.3When a statistical sampling plan has been agreed upon by purchaser and vendor, sampli
、ng shall be in accordance with such plan in lieu of sampling as in 4.3.1 and the report of 4.6 shall state that such plan was used. 4.3.2For Preproduction Tests: As agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. 4.4Approval: 4.4.1Sponge shall be approved by purchaser before sponge for production use is suppli
、ed, unless such approval be waived by purchaser. Results of tests on production sponge shall be essentially equivalent to those on the approved sample. If necessary to m
、ake any change in ingredients, in type of equipment for processing, or in manufacturing procedures, vendor shall submit for reapproval a statement of the proposed changes in ingredients and/or processing and, when requested, sample sponge. Production sponge made by the revised procedure shall not be
、 shipped prior to receipt of reapproval. 4.5Test Methods: 4.5.1Hydrogen Ion Concentration (pH): Dice approximately 1 cubic inch (16 cm3) of sponge to approximately 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) or smaller cubes and extract with continuous agitation for one hour with 100 mL of freshly distilled water. Determine
、pH of the extract by chemical means or pH meter. 4.5.2Dry Heat Aging: A sample of sponge 4 inches (102 mm) square shall be suspended for 22 hours 0.2 by a wire attached to one corner of the sample in a circulating-air convection oven operating at 100 C 1 (212 F 2). The sample shall be removed from t
、he oven and trimmed to 2 inches (51 mm) square by removing 1 inch (25 mm) from each side prior to testing. Standard specimens shall be cut from the sample and tested by the procedure used for the sponge as received. Bend test specimens shall be the 1 inch (25 mm) wide strips produced in trimming the
、 4-inch (102-mm) square sample to a 2-inch (51-mm) square. 4.6Reports: The vendor of sponge shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the technical requirements of this specification. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot nu
、mber, AMS 3199K, vendors compound number, form or part number, and quantity. 4.7Resampling and Retesting: If any specimen used in the above tests fails to meet the specified requirements, disposition of the sponge may be based on the results of testing three additional specimens for each original no
、nconforming specimen. Failure of any retest specimen to meet the specified requirements shall be cause for rejection of the sponge represented. Results of all tests shall be reported. 5.PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: 5.1Identification and Packaging: Shall be in accordance with AMS 2810. 6.ACKNOWLEDGMENT:
