5、 clarify the Sections and remove references to military requirements. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers a synthetic rubber and cork composition in the form of sheet, strip, and molded shapes. 1.2 Application This product has been used typically for parts, such as packings, seals, grommets,

6、 line support blocks, and tank strap pads, where cushioning and vibration damping are of prime importance, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.3 Safety - Hazardous Materials While the materials, methods, applications, and processes described or referenced in this specification may invol

7、ve the use of hazardous materials, this specification does not address the hazards which may be involved in such use. It is the sole responsibility of the user to ensure familiarity with the safe and proper use of any hazardous materials and to take necessary precautionary measures to ensure the hea

8、lth and safety of all personnel involved. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material Shall be a granulated cork uniformly dispersed in a synthetic rubber compound, suitably cured to produce a product meeting the requirements of 3.2. Joints shall be vulcanized and the jo

14、int section shall have essentially the same strength and size as the solid section. 3.2 Properties The product shall conform to the following requirements shown in Table 1; tests shall be performed on the product supplied and in accordance with specified ASTM methods, insofar as practicable: TABLE 1

24、urchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, smooth, as free from foreign material as commercially practicable, and free from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.4 Tolerances Shall be as follows: 3.4.1 Sheet and Strip Shall be as shown in Table 2. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any

27、 confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Tests for the following requirements are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each lot as shown in Table 3: TABLE 3 - ACCEPTANCE TEST REQUIRE

29、n the initial shipment of a product to a purchaser, when a change in ingredients and/or processing requires reapproval as in 4.4.2, and when purchaser deems confirmatory testing to be required. 31、ts. The number of determinations for each requirement shall be as specified in the applicable test procedure or, if not specified therein, not less than three. 4.3.1.1 A lot shall be all product from the same batch of compound processed in one continuous run and presented for vendors inspection at o

32、ne time. An inspection lot shall not exceed 500 pounds (227 kg) and may be packaged in smaller quantities and delivered under the basic lot approval provided lot identification is maintained. 4.3.1.2 A batch shall be the quantity of compound run through a mill or mixer at one time. 4.3.1.3 When a st

33、atistical sampling plan has been agreed upon by purchaser and vendor, sampling shall be in accordance with such plan in lieu of sampling as in 4.3.1 and the report of 4.5 shall state that such plan was used. 4.3.2 For Preproduction Tests As agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. 4.4 Approval 4.4.1 Sam

34、ple product shall be approved by purchaser before product for production use is supplied, unless such approval be waived by purchaser. Results of tests on production product shall be essentially equivalent to those on the approved sample. 4.4.2 Vendor shall use ingredients, manufacturing procedures,

35、 processes, and methods of inspection on production product which are essentially the same as those used on the approved sample product. If necessary to make any change in ingredients, in type of equipment for processing, or in manufacturing procedures, vendor shall submit for reapproval a statement

36、 of the proposed changes in ingredients and/or processing and, when requested, sample product. Production product made by the revised procedure shall not be shipped prior to receipt of reapproval. 4.5 Reports The vendor of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of

37、tests to determine conformance to the acceptance test requirements and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number, AMS 3252J, vendors compound number, form and size or part number, and quantity. 4.6 Resamplin

38、g and Retesting If any specimen used in the above tests fails to meet the specified requirements, disposition of the product may be based on the results of testing three additional specimens for each original nonconforming specimen. Failure of any retest specimen to meet the specified requirements s

39、hall be cause for rejection of the product represented and no additional testing shall be permitted. Results of all tests shall be reported. 5. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and

41、 when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Product not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8. NOTES 8.1 Marginal Indicia A change bar (|) located in the left margin is for the convenience of the user in locating areas w

42、here technical revisions, not editorial changes, have been made to the previous issue of a specification. 43、n specifications that contain editorial changes only. 8.2 Compressibility Change Shall be the arithmetic difference between the as-received and conditioned compressibilities, both expressed in percentage. 8.3 Terms used in AMS are clarified in ARP1917. 8.4 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound uni

44、ts and the Fahrenheit temperatures are primary; dimensions and properties in SI units and the Celsius temperatures are shown as the approximate equivalents of the primary units and are presented only for information. 8.5 Purchase documents should specify not less than the following: AMS 3252J Form a

45、nd size or part number of product desired Quantity of product desired Test methods and acceptance standards for weather resistance (3.2.8) and corrosion (3.2.9).
