29、rom IHS -,-,- FOR INTERNAL UL OR CSDS USE ONLY NOT FOR OUTSIDE DISTRIBUTION f) Fitting Type for Horizontal Surface Water Distribution Test Currently, 26.2.1.3 in the Third Edition indicates that the horizontal surface water distribution tests are to be conducted using a reducing tee pipe fi tting. T

30、he fi re and vertical surface water distribution tests are typically conducted with the sprinkler installed into a bell reducer fi tting as permitted by the Standard. UL proposes to revise this paragraph (now 43.2.1.4 in the proposed new edition) to allow the fl exibility of installing the sprinkler

31、 in a bell reducer for the horizontal surface water distribution test. g) Revision To Heptane Specifi cations Currently, 28.2.3.2 and Table 28.2 in the Third Edition indicate that the heptane used during the fi re testing is to be commercial grade heptane. It has been determined by UL that the curre

UL proposes to revise initial boiling point, specifi c gravity, and Dry Point specifi ca

The other characteristics formerly referenced in Table 28.2 in the Third Edition are proposed to be deleted since vendors no longer validate these characteristics and they are not considered necessary or critical for the fi re test specifi

The specifi cations for heptane will now be found in the Glossary of the Fourth Edition as paragraph 5.1.4. h) Revision To Operation - Lodgement Test Currently, the Operation - Lodgement Test (20.2 in the Third Edition) is conducted with water supplied to the sprinkler from a single directio

35、n. Data has been provided to UL indicating that the performance of sprinklers during this test may be infl uenced by the direction of water feeding into a sprinkler fi tting. In consideration of this new information, UL is proposing to require that the Operation Lodgement Test be conducted using bot

See 30.2, Table 30.1, and Figure 30.1 in the proposed new edition. i) Revision to Address Sprinklers Having a Pressure Rating Greater Than 175 psig. Currently, UL 1626 addresses residential sprinklers with a pressure rating of 175 psig. Since ther

37、e is interest in residential sprinkler pressure ratings greater than 175 psig, UL is proposing revisions to include appropriate requirements for higher-pressure ratings. The proposed revisions are intended to include requirements similar to those currently included in UL 199 for high pressure rated

See 9.1, 21.1, 21.2, 22.1, Table 22.1 (New), 23.1, 23.3, 25.1, Table 25.1 (New), 25.3, 26.1, Table 26.1 (New), 26.2, 26.4, 30.1, Table 30.1, 40.4, 41.6, 41.7, 42.4, 43.2.1.1, 44.2.1, 45.1, 45.2, 46.3.6, 48.1 and Table 48.1. j) Revisions to Address Dry-Type Residential Sprinklers and Resi

39、dential Sprinklers Used in Dry Systems Currently, UL 1626 includes requirements for residential sprinklers used in wet systems. Since there is interest in the installation of dry residential sprinkler systems, UL is proposing revisions to include requirements for dry-type residential sprinklers as w

The proposed requirements for dry-type residential sprinklers are similar to those currently applied to dry-type sprinklers referenced in UL 199.
