36、ATEMENTS AND PROPOSED REVISIONS FOR UL 2167, WATER MIST EXTINGUISHING SYSTEMS UN ITS 2. ADDITION OF GLASS BULB INTEGRITY REQUIREMENTS RATIONALE Based upon information received from several field locations where glass bulb sprinklers have been installed, damage to these products may be contributing t
37、o premature operation and fracturing or other degraded performance of the glass bulb. To address the potential for glass bulbs to be damaged before or during assembly, UL is proposing production tests at the nozzle manufacturing facility for all automatic nozzles utilizing a glass bulb heat responsi

To address concerns regarding damage to nozzles due to handling and installation onto the spray nozzle system, UL is proposing the use of protective covers that are to be removed after the nozzle is install
39、ed in the system. Therefore, UL proposes to add Section 6A, Protective Covers, Section 27A, Impact Test for Protective Covers, and paragraph 50.6. These revisions have already been adopted into ULs sprinkler standards. PROPOSALS (NEW SECTION) 6A Protective Covers 6A.1 Nozzles with glass bulb type he

If the glass bulb extends beyond the perimeter of the nozzle deflector, an additional five samples are to be mounted in the vertical position and impacted with the same cylindrical mass from a height of one meter onto the geometric center of the

Following the impact, each nozzle is to be visually examined and there shall be no evidence of cracks, breaks, or any other damage to the glass bulb. Each sample nozzle shall then withstand a hydrostatic pressure of twice the rated working pressure for 1 minute without leakage. In add
