19、 relevant electronic circuits. 4. INSTRUCTION MANUAL REVISIONS RATIONALE UL proposes to delete ”and understand” in 8.1 DV. The term ”and understand” does not enhance the intent of the requirement and it is therefore proposed to be deleted. UL proposes to delete 8.12.1DV. The current marking requirem

20、ent in 8.12.1DV is already located in 8.1DV and does not need to also be located in 8.12.1DV. PROPOSALS 8.1DV DI Modification: Add the following items: - the following statement: WARNING - To reduce the risk of injury, user must read instruction manual The word Warning” shall be in capital letters n

21、ot less than 2.4 mm high and shall not be separated from the cautionary statement. The statement shall be verbatim, except the term ” operators manual” or ”user guide” may be used for the term ”instruction manual.” - date of manufacture The date of manufacture may be a dating period not exceeding an

CHANGES TO IMPACT AND ELECTRIC STRENGTH TESTING FOR HANDLE AND GRASPING S

24、URFACES RATIONALE UL proposes to replace the national difference in 20.4DV.1 with text from the upcoming fourth edition of IEC 60745-1, which more clearly defines the time when the potential is applied and the compliance criteria, which will better ensure consistency and repeatability. UL proposes t

25、o replace the tests in K.20.4DV.1 and L.20.4DV.1 for battery tools. Battery tools should be subjected to the same test voltage as cord-connected tools since the potential hazard being addressed is the same for both tools. PROPOSALS 20.4DV.1 D2 Addition: Add the following clause: At the discretion of

29、TO THICKNESS OF QUICK-CONNECT TABS RATIONALE UL proposes a change to the thickness of quick-connect tabs in 26.2DV. The proposal reflects current North American tool industry practice. PROPOSAL 26.2DV DI Modification: Add the following paragraphs: Quick-connect terminals may be used to terminate or

30、interconnect grounding and bonding conductors in sizes 18 - 14 AWG under the following conditions: a) For wire sizes 18 - 16 AWG, the minimum connector and tab width shall be 2.80 mm (0.110 inch); or b) For wire sizes 14 AWG, the minimum connector and tab width shall be 6.35 mm (0.250 inch). Quick-c

31、onnect tabs shall not be less than 88 mm (I432 0.02Q inch) thick. Multipin (friction type) insulated connectors shall not be used in equipment grounding paths unless they are shown to be acceptable for grounding use. 7. CORRECTION TO CREEPAGE DISTANCES AND CLEARANCES RATIONALE UL proposes to add a n

32、ational difference in Table IODV, which replaces Row 4 as well as Row 3 in Table IO. This proposal corrects creepage distances and clearances to reflect intended values. The national difference, K.15.1DV, would require additional compliance criteria that clearly indicates that in order to be able to perform the test, accessible parts of insulated material wil

36、l need to be covered with metal foil. This clarifies the compliance criteria to ensure consistent application. However, please note that the origina

45、l effective date of June 1, 2007 has been extended to June 1, 2010. As of June 1, 2010, all products Listed or Recognized by UL must comply with the requirements in this Standard. Between March 26, 2004 and June 1, 2010, new product submittals to UL must be evaluated under all requirements in this S

46、tandard or, if requested in writing, evaluated under presently effective requirements only. The presently effective requirements are contained in the first edition of UL 745-1. Alternate constructions, currently Listed to the UL 45, eighth edition, may be evaluated to the first edition of UL 745-1 a

48、ER 14,2004 APPENDIX C STP BALLOT FOR UL 60745-1 (FOR STP MEMBERS ONLY) STP Ballot Instructions The STP member should fill out the attached ballot and send it to the STP secretary by the stated deadline. The guidelines for membership on an STP are such that only one individual may represent an organization. Therefore, only the STP member shall return the accompanied ballot.
