、posed deletions are shown tmd-e& . Proposed new requirements are identified by (NEW). In the case of extensively revised paragraphs, the original text is identified by (CURRENT) and is tmd-e&, followed by the proposed text identified by (PROPOSED). A paragraph that is proposed to be deleted is ident

、ified by (DELETED) and is shown tmd-e&. 1. LEADS RATIONALE UL 429 currently requires that a lead intended to be connected to an insulated grounded conductor be identified by a white or natural gray outer finish. However, the term “natural gray“ is an undefined term that is no longer used in the Nati

、onal Electrical Code. Therefore, UL proposes that the word “natural“ be deleted from the term “natural gray“ in paragraph 14.2.3. This proposal is consistent with Article 200 of the National Electrical Code, ANSVNFPA 70-2002. PROPOSAL 14.2.3 A lead intended for connection of a neutral or grounded su

、pply conductor shall be finished white or mtmi gray, and shall be distinguishable from the other leads. No other lead shall be so identified. 2. EXTERNAL LEAKAGE TEST RATIONALE UL 429, paragraph 28.3 limits external leakage for general-purpose air and inert gas valves to 1.5 cubic feet per hour (42,

、500 cm3/h). This leakage limit is currently applied to sealed joints on a valve body but not applied to valve parts that are designed to vent air to the same surrounding environment. The need for external leakage testing to determine the effects of torque, endurance or burnout testing for a general-

、purpose air valve will not be affected by these proposals. Also, eliminating the external leakage limit for a general-purpose air valve does not adversely affect the level of safety for these types of valves. Because excessive leakage from an inert gas could accumulate in a closed environment and wo

、uld not sustain respiration, this proposal does not apply to general purpose valves controlling inert gases. Therefore, UL proposes to revise paragraphs 28.1, 28.2, 28.3, 28.6, 30.10, 35.3, and add paragraph 28.3.1 to clarify the external leakage test requirements. This inconsistency would be elimin

、ated with adoption of these proposals.
