This Outline of Invest
10、igation contains basic requirements for products covered by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) under its Follow-Up Service for this category within the limitations given below and in the Scope section of this Outline of Investigation. They are subject to revision as further experience and investiga
11、tion may show is necessary or desirable. B. The observance of these requirements by a manufacturer is one of the conditions of the continued coverage of the manufacturers product. C. A product which complies with the text of this Outline of Investigation will not necessarily be judged to comply with
12、 the Outline of Investigation if, when examined and tested, it is found to have other features which impair the level of safety contemplated by these requirements. D. A product employing materials or having forms of construction which conflict with specific requirements of the Outline of Investigati
13、on cannot be judged to comply with the Outline of Investigation. A product employing materials or having forms of construction not addressed by this Outline of Investigation may be examined and tested according to the intent of the requirements and, if found to meet the intent of this Outline of Inv
14、estigation, may be judged to comply with the Outline of Investigation. E. UL, in performing its functions in accordance with its objectives, does not assume or undertake to discharge any responsibility of the manufacturer or any other party. The opinions and findings of UL represent its professional
15、 judgement given with due consideration to the necessary limitations of practical operation and state of the art at the time the Outline of Investigation is processed. UL shall not be responsible to anyone for the use of or reliance upon this Outline of Investigation by anyone. UL shall not incur an

I as follows: The term ”tool” is replaced with ”grinders, die grinders and angle grinders.” This outline of investigation does not apply to sanders. Sanders are covered in the Outline of

I Replace item (9) as follows: g) “WARNING“ “To Reduce the Risk of Injury to Persons, Wear eye protection and always use
22、 proper guards when grinding. Use only accessories rated at least RPM.“ Exception No. I: The abbreviation “RPW may be replaced with “revolution/min.“ Exception No. 2: “Use only accessories rated at least RPW is not required if the measured speed does not exceed the rated no-load speed as marked on t
23、he nameplate, see Section 9. The accessory speed marking shall be equal to or greater than the measured no-load speed. Exception No. 3: Grinders with 50.8 mm (2 in) diameter or less rated wheel size do not require “use proper guards when grinding.“ 8.1 Item (j), is not applicable. Add paragraphs: 8.
24、1.101 An arrow indicating the direction of rotation. The arrow shall be raised, recessed, or distinguished by other means no less visible and shall be indelible. 8.1.102 Rated diameter of the grinding disk or polishing wheel. 9 Instruction Manual This Section of Part 1 is applicable except as follow
25、s: 9.2.3 Under Personal Safety, items (i), (j) and (k) are not applicable. Add items to 9.2.3, under Tool use and care: i) Always use proper guard with grinding wheel. A guard reduces the risk of injury to persons from broken wheel fragments. Exception: Only required if guard is provided. j) Accesso
26、ries must be rated for at least the speed of the tool marked on the tool label. Wheels and other accessories running over rated speed can fly apart and result in a risk of injury to persons. 29、 Section of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 15.14 This paragraph of Part 1 is not applicable. Add paragraphs: 15.101 A flange or guard shall comply with the requirements for such parts for grinders in the Standard for Portable Electric Tools, UL 45. 15.102 A grinder having a rated grinding w
30、heel diameter exceeding 50.8 mm (2 in) shall be provided with a non-detachable guard having sufficient mechanical strength to contain any parts of the wheel thrown out in the event of wheel breakage. The opening in the guard shall not be larger than necessary for the intended function of the tool. 1
