3、Part 2: Particular Requirements for Timers and Time Switches, UL 60730-2-7; PROPOSED EFFECTIVE DATE SUMMARY OF TOPICS This bulletin proposes the following changes in requirements Revise UL 8730-2-7 to update that standard to the first edition of UL 60730-2-7 to be used in conjunction with the third
4、edition of UL 60730-IA. Proposed effective date schedule for the replacement of requirements for Timers and Time Switches Contained in UL 917 and UL 8730-2-7. COMMENTS DUE: March 8,2002 Attached as Appendix A for your review and comment are proposed requirements for UL 60730-2-7 Questions regarding
5、interpretation of requirements should be directed to the responsible UL Staff. Please see Appendix B of this bulletin regarding designated responsibility for the subject product categories. 9、e first edition of UL 8730-2-7 UL Dublishes the first edition of UL 60730-2-7. FEBRUARY 8,2002 Until December 31, 2003 December 31, 2003 PROPOSED EFFECTIVE DATE Manufacturers have the option of investigating products to UL 917 or UL 60730-2-7. Existing products Listed or Recognized to UL 917 may ret
10、ain their Listing or Recognition. All timers and time switches covered under other categories will be transfered to the UL 60730-2-7 category. All products must comply with UL 60730-2-7. UL 917 will be withdrawn. These proposed requirements will not necessitate a review or additional testing of curr
11、ently Listed or Recognized products. Therefore, UL proposes that the new requirements become effective upon publication. However, the replacement of UL 917 with UL 60730-2-7, as explained in the Subject 917 (8730-2-7) Industry Bulletin dated February 3, 1999, will require a review of currently Liste
12、d or Recognized products. Since UL is proposing to replace UL 917 with UL 60730-2-7, which is to be used in conjunction with the third edition of UL 60730-IA (which replaced the first edition of UL 8730-I), UL is proposing the following effective date schedule for the replacement of the requirements
13、 in UL 917 with the requirements in UL 60730-2-7. UL is proposing this schedule so that product investigations take into account the updated requirements in the third edition of UL 60730-IA. This can be achieved with this schedule and a single file review. The third edition of the Standard for Autom
14、atic Electrical Controls for Household and Similar Use, Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60730-1A, was published on January 28, 2002. The proposed requirements in Appendix A would update UL 60730-2-7 to correlate that standard with the third edition O f UL 60730-IA. IMPACT The proposed revisions cla
15、rify the requirements in UL 60730-2-7. If they are adopted, they will not necessitate a review of currently Listed or Recognized products. The proposed withdrawal of UL 917 and its replacement with UL 60730-2-7 will require a review of presently Listed and Recognized timers and and time switches by
16、the effective date of December 31, 2003. Also, all timers and time switches covered under other categories will be transfered to Category Control Numbers (CCNs) WGZR, Clock-Operated Switches, and WGZR2, Clock-Operated Switches - Component.
