Revision of paragraph 12.1.1 to provide for use of SPT-2 in receptacles 12 amps or less when marked in accordance with paragraph 42.14. ALL STP BALLOTS AND COMMENTS DUE: January 30,2006 For

Revision of paragraph 12.1.1 to provide for use of SPT-2 in receptacles 12 amps or less when marked in accordance with paragraph 42.14. RATIONALE The following ra
3、tionale and proposed change to 12.1.1 of UL 962A was submitted to UL by Doug Clay of Furnlite, Inc. Presently, section 12, Power-Supply Cord, of UL 962A states that SPT-3 can be used in receptacles 12 amps or less when labeled in accordance with paragraph 42.14. Similar products covered by the Stand
4、ard for Household and Commercial Furnishing, UL 962 use SPT-2 and label the receptacles 13 amps. This is an issue to the customer, not because of the 12 amp rating, but because of the price increase that they will receive due to the larger wire. To my knowledge, there has not been a safety issue due
5、 to overload on the wire. These receptacles have to be mounted in furnishings, unlike the relocatable power tap. The relocatable power taps are for GENERAL USE, whereas products covered by UL 962A are for specific use, or in better words LIMITED USE. Therefore, we are proposing that SPT-2 is suffici
6、ent for the FPDUs. PROPOSAL 12.1 .I The power-supply cord shall be of the grounding type and shall employ one of the following flexible cord Types: SJ, SJE, SJO, SJT, SJTO, or equivalent. Exception: fpF3 SPT-2 is not prohibited from being used on a FPDU rated 12 A or less when marked in accordance w

Comments received during this preliminary review period may not be provided with a response. After comments are considered by the submitter
