17、ndard for Thermoset-Insulated Wires and Cables includes silicone rubber among the options for insulating 14 AWG and larger sizes of 600 volt Type RHH wire. The physical properties requirements for this silicone insulation are specified in Table 50.206 of the UL 1581 Reference Standard for Electrical

18、 Wires, Cables, and Flexible Cords. For 14 - 10 AWG conductors, 45 mils is specified as the minimum average thickness of the silicone insulation and 40 mils is specified as the minimum thickness at any point of the silicone insulation. A covering is required over the silicone insulation. Type RHH wi

RFHH-2, RFH-2, and FFH-2: 30.0 mils or 0.76 mm RFHH-3: 45.0 mils or 1.14 mm (8.3.1) The UL 66 Standard for Fixture Wire includes 16 and 18 AWG sizes of 600 volt Type RFHH-3 wire for use in dry locations at 90C (194F). The insula

A manufacturer has requested that UL accept 16 and 18 AWG Type RFHH-3 fixture wire made with the same silicone rubber insulation and

21、 thicknesses as on 14 - 10 AWG Type RHH wires and with an extruded covering over the insulation. ULs evaluation of the requested wire has found it acceptable for use as Type RFHH-3. 38、sulation Thickness for Types SF-2 and SFF-2 RATIONALE When the 12 and 10 AWG sizes of Types SF-2 and SFF-2 were added to index Table 4.4 as part of the April 28 proposal followed by the July 16 revision pages, an insulation thickness of 45.0 mils minimum average (40.0 mils minimum at any point) was

39、indicated for both sizes instead of only for the 10 AWG size. To match the specification in Table 402.3 of the 2002 National Electrical Code, the insulation thickness for 12 AWG should have been shown as 30.0 mils minimum average (27.0 mils minimum at any point). UL proposes to correct Table 4.4 as
