3、II, and III, Division 1, Hazardous (Classified) Locations Summary of Topics UL announces an Effective Date of December 2, 2005 for marking requirements for live maintenance procedures. An indication of the effective date was inadvertently omitted from the Sixth Edition of the Standard for Intrinsica

4、lly Safe Apparatos and Associated Apparatus for Use in Class I, II, and 111, Division I, Hazardous (Classified) Locations, UL 913, dated August 8, 2002. Changes to the requirements in paragraphs 8.1 .I .4 c), 38.2 (a) and 38.2 (a)(6) of UL 913 for product markings may necessitate changes for a produ

5、ct to comply with this Standard. Specifically, markings will be necessary to indicate that maintenance is only to be done with the power disconnected, or if maintenance is to be done while live, then these procedures must be documented in the user?s manual. Revision pages will be issued with the eff

6、ective date of December 2, 2005. This bulletin should be kept with your copy of the standard. Questions regarding interpretation of requirements should be directed to the responsible UL Staff. Please note that proposed requirements are of a tentative and early nature and are for review and

20、comment only. Current requirements are to be used to judge a product until these requirements are published in final form. 22、L proposes a revision to paragraphs 12.1 and 12.4 of UL 913, the Standard for Intrinsically Safe Apparatus and Associated Apparatus for Use in Class I, II, and III, Division 1, Hazardous (Classified) Locations. The paragraphs address requirements for the separation of intrinsically safe and nonintri

23、nsically safe internal wiring. The purpose of the revision is to align the wording of paragraphs 12.1 and 12.4 with the wording of the same requirements used in UL 60079-1 1, the Standard for Electrical Apparatus for Explosive Gas Atmospheres - Part 11 : Intrinsic Safety “i“ . While UL certifies int

24、rinsically safe apparatus using UL 91 3 for North American “Division“ Locations, and international standards such as UL 60079-1 1 for “Zone“ Locations, these are both Hazardous Locations. Therefore, the requirements on internal wiring should be aligned. Unless specifically requested to do so, UL wil

As such, this series of safety standards will replace ANSI/UL 2279, Electrical Equipment for Use in Class I, Zone O, 1 and 2 Hazardous (Classified) Locations - representing the latest evolution in ULs efforts towards more closely harmonizing the US Zone requirements with the applicable IEC 60079 s

As part of these US efforts associated with the IECEx Scheme, as of October 2002, UL is now accredited as an Accepted Certification Body (ACB) and Assessment & Testing Laboratory (ExTL) under th

This provides the US its first and only such accredited body able to accept and issue Assessment and Test Reports (ATRs) for certification in 22 countries across Asia Pacific, Europe and North America that are actively participating under the Scheme.
