And oral English, which is directly used when learners communicate with foreigners, is one of the most important factors for every English learner. There is a phenomenon that most of Eng

After years of research by an international authoritative English organization, it was found that among all the English learners in China, 82% of them can not communicate with foreigners in English, 33% can only understand the

But most of these articles are theoretic and suit for students. In this the

Therefore, having a good mastery of oral English is the need of social development as well as personal development. .The Problems Related to Oral English in UseEnglish is very important not only for the students, but also for people in work, especially in the 21st Century. Everyone recognize

、s the importance of English, so they spent much time in learning English and gained a lot. As to the students, they have good mastery of grammar and get high scores in the examinations. To people in work, most of them can read files or deal with them. But some of them feel hard to communicate with f

、oreigners. Even some of them are afraid of talking to foreigners. As a language, the fundamental function of English is to communicate. In order to communicate, oral English is more practical than other skills like reading and writing. Some people believe it is a waste of time to practice it, becaus

、e they have no chance to communicate with foreigners in the future. However, there are also many people recognizing the permanent importance of oral English and want to have a good mastery of it. An investigation shows that most of the Chinese learn English by reading books, magazines or newspapers.

、 They only read them silently. It seems that they are very familiar with all of the sentences. But when they are asked to speak out, it seems that all of the sentences escape from their mind. They can hardly speak out. Even they can do it, and what they said is hard for the native speakers to unders

、tand. The vocabulary and sentence patterns they used do not conform to the expression habit of native speakers. To sum up, either to the student or to people in work, there are some main problems related to oral English in use as below. The first is that learners are afraid of speaking out. The secon

、d is that learners can not apply vocabulary or sentences patterns they have learnt into practice. The third is that sentences learners use are hard to be understood by the native speakers. Reasons for the Above Three ProblemsThere are many reasons for the above problems. The author introduces three

、main reasons, such as psychological barrier, being not understood properly, and seldom using vocabulary and sentence patterns newly learnt. A. Psychological BarrierTo the majority of primary learners, talking with foreigners is the most difficult thing. Learning to express should be more difficult t

、han learning to understand. That is the reason why under different circumstances and different occasions, blurting out different English sentences to express ideas and share information in English is harder, so many learners are afraid of giving a speech from the very beginning. One of the reasons i

、s learners character. Generally speaking, introverted people like to talk in whispers. It is very unfavorable to the learning of language and the training of a standard pronunciation, to which much attention should be paid. The second reason is the limited basic English skill. For example, learners

、do not have standard tone of speech, or learners are not familiar with the vocabulary, sentence patterns or grammar, or learners do not have other basic skills, such as reading and reciting. The emotion of being fearful of difficulty is easy to be formed. It results in psychological barrier like the

、 fear of making mistakes or being laughed at by others. Due to their limited level of English, they are not brave enough to open their mouths. Especially when they face foreigners, such a situation is easy to appear. Because of this, learners say it is difficult to speak out and even more difficult

、to make a coherent narration. The more afraid people are, the less courage they will have. It results in less speaking or even never speaking. Then they will find themselves fallen into an unexpected vicious cycle that after years of study they still can not use English to make communication effecti

Everyone is eager to liberally talk with foreign friends with authentic, standard and fluent oral English and gain their praise like “Your English is very good.” “Your English is perfect.”B. Being not Properly Understood Foreigners often feel confus

、ed by the Chinese. Maybe it is because the pronunciation is difficult to be understood. Inappropriate vocabulary or sentence patterns which do not coincide with the expression habit of English language can cause difficulties. Its just the same with foreigners speaking the Chinese language. If their

、pronunciation is not standard or clear, their words are wrongly used, or their sentences are improperly formed, they will tend to be misunderstood. Because in the mind of a native speaker, certain context or situation has formed a fixed expression, and other unexpected expression is considered as re

、latively unfamiliar.C. Seldom Using Vocabulary and Sentence Patterns Newly LearntGenerally speaking, the main reason for this phenomenon is that learners are not familiar with the sentences the have learnt. If a sentence in English is supplied, most people can quickly understand. But if the sentence

、 is in Chinese, will they have a rapid response to its English expression? It is impossible for many people. But if they practice a few times, maybe the result will be different. Learners can not use English at the moment they need to use it, which equals to that the words and sentences cant be memo

、rized in mind. Practice makes perfect. More training can improve response speed for the language to make the things and the state quickly be matched with their certain expressions.Ways to Improve Oral English in Daily LifeIn order to learn oral English well, every learner should have practical metho

、ds. Some learners have their own ways to practice oral English according to their learning habits. But they often tend to give up them if their methods are not complete. In this section, three practical methods are introduced, including ways to overcome psychological barrier at the very beginning, w

、ays to improve oral English during the process of learning, and ways to put learnt English into practice.A. Ways to Overcome Psychological Barrier at the Very BeginningThere is a story. Once, some people went abroad to attend a meeting. During the meeting, there were some small problems. All of them

、 began to negotiate together. At the very beginning of the discussion, they maintained a modest way. English they used was very decent and courteous. But they later found that a complete sentence or the correct English grammar simply can not solve the problem. Thus they began to talk in broken Engli

、sh and even with gestures. Then they quickly solved the problems. People may think that the story is a little humorous. But after laughing, perhaps they will find that they are less afraid of speaking English. Foreigners Chinese level is no higher than the English level of the Chinese. Thinking abou

、t it, maybe the language learners will fell easier to overcome this psychological shyness. Even people who have no basic knowledge in English are brave enough to say very simple sentence. Learners certainly should be confident and determine to break the bottleneck. Courageously say Hi!, How are you

、doing?, Very pleasant to meet you.” and By the way, let me introduce. Only those people who practice in water can learn to swim. Spoken English can be mastered during speaking. Learners should start with the simplest, most basic, most commonly used sentence to bravely speak English out. When learners

、 speak English, they should not be afraid of making mistakes. Only some one dare to lose face can save face in the end. Peoples strongest enemies are themselves. People should think about ways to overcome the weakness of themselves. Learners should take Chaplins message to heart You have to believe

、in yourself. Thats the secret of success. .B. Ways to Improve Oral English During the Process of LearningDifferent people have different ways to improve their oral English. Maybe their methods are not so systematic that to cause their giving up. In this part, some practical ways are introduced, such as ways to deal with pronunciation, ways to deal with vocabulary, ways to deal with sentence patterns, and
