1、简说most的用法崔长平 河南遂平一高（463100）一most 与多音节形容词一起构成最高级时，其前应加定冠词the ，在有一个短语或从句表示比较范围的情况下尤其如此。如：This is the most difficult of the three.Its the most interesting book Ive ever read.She is by far the most active member in our group.但是，most 修饰的形容词在句中用作表语或定语，又无一定的比较范围时，其前通常不加the（属于绝对最高级），意为“极为，特别，非常，很”。如：The los
2、s of water and soil was most serious in this area.She is most beautiful.And she really is most peculiar in lots of ways.Hangzhou is a most beautiful city.需要说明的是，most 修饰的形容词在句中作定语，而被修饰的名词又被省略不说出是，其前的the 一般不能省去。如：Those who have (the) most money are not always the most valued.This novel is the most int
3、eresting I have ever read.二most 与多音节副词一起构成最高级时，其前不加冠词the 的情况更为常见。如：One of the persons whom Lanny saw most frequently was George.Of all the boys he reads most distinctly.三most 作为形容词many，much 的最高级修饰名词时，其前加不加the 均可。如：Which of you has made (the) most mistakes?Who picked the most apples?四most 在下列情况下不是形容词
4、many，much 的最高级，故其前不加定冠词the。(1)“大多数，大部分”，一般用作主语、宾语或定语。如：Of course most of them dont agree with his opinion. I learnt French when I was a child but I forgot most of it.Most people think so.有时构成词组作状语：They worked most of the day.(2) 意为“极其，非常”（= very ），但有时在“most+形容词+单数名词”结构中，前面可加不定冠词（属于绝对最高级）。如：Lily has
5、for a long time been most anxious for your return.Whatever happens, I shall most certainly attend the meeting.It was a most beautiful place.Mr. Smith is a most remarkable man.(3)意为“几乎，近乎”（= almost，nearly ），一般用于口语中。如：You feel the way most everybody else has left.Table tennis is played most anywhere in the world.(4)意为“最”，用来修饰动词，其前不加the。如：Of these sports, I like rowing most.What surprised me most was to see some of the village people were seated at the end of the classroom.
