1、Unit 9 I like music that I can dance to.,Grammar,Attributive Clauses 定语从句（一）,1.定义:在复合句中,起形容词作用修饰某一名词或代词的从句叫作定语从句(也叫形容词从句) 2.定语从句所修饰的词叫先行词.定语从句应放在 先行词的后面. 3.引导定语从句的词有关系代词和关系副词。 关系代词有：that ,which ,who ,whom ,whose 关系副词有：when , where ,why 4.例句: The woman who lives next to us is a singer . 先行词 定语从句,5.关系
2、代词的选择: （1）要看先行词. （2）要看关系代词在从句中充当什么成分. （3）规律如下:who(指人，作主语或宾语) whom(指人，作宾语) that(指人或物，作主语或宾语) whose(指人或物，作定语) which(指物，作主语或宾语),6.关系代词如何引导定语从句 普通代词与关系代词的区别 I have a sister. She works in Shanghai.（代替 sister） 普通代词：只起代替的作用（如上例中的she) I have a sister who/that works in Shanghai. 关系代词： （如上例中的who/that）,代替先行词;
3、它还在定语从句中担任一定的成分; 起连接作用，把先行词与它引导的定语从句连接起来 .（即把主句和从句连接起来）,Attributive Clauses 定语从句（二）,The building is our school . The building stands by the river. （合并为定语从句）,关系代词的使用取决于先行词，它们的关系非常密切，因为关系代词在定语从句中代替主句中的先行词，所以它在一般情况下都跟在先行词之后，而且它的 人称、数必须和先行词一致。,The building which/that stands by the river is our school. 先
4、行词 关系代词 定语从句,which/that 是关系代词，它在从句中代替先行词the building, 同时担任从句中的主语，也起连词的作用，把两个简单句连接 起来。,关系代词的使用取决于先行词，它们的关系非常密切，因为关系代词在定语从句中代替主句中的先行词，所以它在一般情况下都跟在先行词之后，而且它的 人称、数必须和先行词一致。,(1)The boy is Tom. 7、 now?,Can you find the pen which/that I wrote with just now?,7.定语从句中需注意的事项: （一）关系代词只能用that,而不能用which 的情况： (1)先行词被形容词最高级或序数词修饰时。 This is the best film that Ive ever seen. 这是我曾经看过的最棒的电影。 He was the first person that knew the good news. 他是第一个知道这个好消息的人。,(2)先行词是 all, any ,many , everything, anything , so
8、mething, none, the one等不定代词或被它们修饰时 。 Is there anything that you want to know? 有你想了解的事吗？ (3)先行词被the only , the very ,the same , the last等词修饰时。 This is the very dictionary that I want to buy. 这就是我想买的那本字典。,(4)先行词是 一个既指人又指物的并列词组时。 I will remember the persons and the things that we met last year in Canad
9、a. 我将记住我们去年在加拿大遇到的那些事。 (5)主句是there be 结构时 There is a skirt that belongs to Lucy in the bag. 包里有条短裙是露西的。,(二)关系代词只用which而不用that 的情况： (1)先行词为that时。 Whats that which is in the sky? (2)关系代词前有介词修饰时。 I like the city in which we live. (3)引导非限制性定语从句时。 Mike passed the exam, which made us happy.,1. The robbers
