2、t to recognize appropriate individuals, organizations, and events through the placement of approved public art, monuments, memorials, plaques, signs, or landscape plantings on the universitys campuses.Reason for PolicyPublic art and memorials are an integral component of the campus appearance and a
3、recognition of significant contributions to the university and higher education. UNLV, as the steward of University and Community College System of Nevada (UCCSN) property and the Nevada State Arboretum, is committed to protecting the facility while providing opportunities for appropriately designed
4、 public art, monuments, memorials, signs, plaques, or landscape plantings (hereafter know as public displays) that honor an individual, organization, or event that is beneficial to the community. This policy governs the acquisition, placement, maintenance, and funding of permanent public displays in
5、 common areas within the jurisdiction of UNLV. The establishment of memorials, placement of public art, and all facilities naming will be conducted in accordance with Title 4, Chapter 10, Section 23.3 of the Board of Regents Handbook and procedures established for UNLV. To insure a consistent approa
6、ch to aesthetics, placement and content, there must be a defined set of standards. To avoid confusion and controversy, specific budget requirements must be established for the purchase and maintenance of public displays.Entities Affected by This PolicyAll UNLV Campuses, Field Stations, Colleges and

Campus public displays ar
8、e an integral part of facilities and grounds. VPA also has the responsibility for developing and insuring adherence to the campus Facilities Master Plan. Finally, the VPA is responsible for preparing and/or approving budgets for campus facilities projects. In cooperation with the Vice President for Development (VPD) and Vice President for University and Community Relations (VPUCR), the VPA or a designated representative shall establish guidelines and procedures to implement this policy.
