4、 and Bus Wheel Seals and Associated Packaging 1.ScopeThis SAE Information Report lists the symbols used by suppliers of truck, trailer, and bus wheel seals to identify their products. These symbols appear on seals and packaging. 1.1PurposeThe purpose of this document is to provide users of truck, tr
5、ailer, and bus wheel seals a means of identifying the suppliers of all such components by use of the symbology utilized by the suppliers on their components and packaging. 2.ReferencesThere are no referenced publications specified herein. 3.General 3.1To be listed; the supplier should provide eviden
6、ce that the symbol is used. 3.2The following minimum identification is recommended. 3.2.1SEAL IDENTIFICATION a.Trademark or ID b.Date or date code c.Part number d.Side identification (examples: oilside, airside) e.Country of origin (country where molded) 3.2.2PACKAGING IDENTIFICATION a.Trademark or
7、ID b.Part number c.Country of origin (country where molded) 3.3The method which suppliers use to mark their products and packaging such as metal impressions, etching, laser, molded in marking, and ink marking is the suppliers option. 3.4The size of a manufacturers symbol is also an option. However,

9、iers identification letters, symbols, and marks herein is not to be construed as approval by SAE or its members. SAE does not approve or disapprove such markings. Some of the markings by different suppliers are, in fact, considered to be too similar and/or complex for reduction. Suppliers, when choo
10、sing markings are encouraged to utilize identification that is significant, distinctive, permanent, and easily identifiable.
