2、ction per- formance requirement used to appraise the perfor- mance of ASSE Standard 1047 Reduced Pressure Detector Fire Protection Backflow Prevention As- semblies (RPDF). This operational performance test requirement includes all activities which shall be addressed while field testing. Purpose The

3、purpose of this standard shall be to establish minimum field inspection procedures for ASSE Standard 1047 Reduced Pressure Detector Fire Pro- tection Backflow Prevention Assemblies (RPDF). Definitions Field inspection procedure-a test method which evaluates a backflow assembly for compliance to the

4、minimum performance requirements. Field Testing Requirements Administrative Issues A. Initial arrangements shall be made with the re- sponsible party to schedule the test. B. Arrangements/notifications shall be made where a continuous water supply is necessary or where testing creates a special haza

5、rd, in- convenience or risk in buildings or for piping systems . Examples of such buildings or sys- tems include, but are not limited by enumera- tion to hospitals, manucturingplants,firepro- tection systems, alarm companiesjre depart- ments, insurance carriers and others where spe- cial notificatio

6、n is necessary. C. The proper information, reporting forms and equipment shall be gathered to properly con- duct the test. 2.2 Site Issues A. Safety Inspection-The initial field evaluation shall be made for safety hazards in accordance with applicable federal, state and local safety regulations and

7、statutes. Some of the issues to be examined are, but are not limited by enu- meration to: - Confined spaces-ventikztion, access, oxygen - - - content Chemical, electrical or flammable hazards Hazards related to elevation of devices Hazards to the tester and other persons B. Inspection of the Install

8、ation 1. The proper application of the assembly shall be confirmed for code compliance with respect to the degree of hazard, mark- ings, prohibited locations (i.e. where sub- jected to flooding or freezing) and special installation requirements. The valve orientation and direction of flow shall be c

9、onfirmed as proper. The assembly shall be checked for alter- ations or special needs, such as, but not limited to the adequacy of the air gap, the evidence of illegal bypasses and the ad- equacy of drainage systems from the assembly. 2. 3. The general appearance of the assembly shall be checked for evidence of excessive discharge, condition of shut-off valves, test cocks, relief valve, air gap and adequacy of drainage should leakage occur. 3.0 Reporting A. The test report shall contain, but not be lim- ited by enumeratio

12、n to the following informa- tion: manufacturers name, model number, serial number and size of device; owners name and address; building address; physical location of assembly within the building (as descriptive as possible); description of application (i.e. equipment or system served); initial test

13、results (pass-fail of first check and second check, static line pressure); test gauge manufacturer, model number, serial number and expiration date/last date of calibration; repairs made; final test re- sults, as applicable; printed name, signature and certification number of the tester; type of de-

14、 vice, if form applies to different devices (RPA, RPDA, DCVA, DDCA, PVB, SVB); affirma- tion statement of valve performance at the date and time of the test; B. The tester shall provide copies of the test results to the owner and other appropriate parties as required. The tester shallmaintain a copy

15、 for hidher records. 4.0 Testing A. The following tests shall be performed in ac- cordance with local procedures, on both the line and bypass assemblies with provisions for testing in both vertical and horizontal installa- tions. (In the absence of a local procedure, note Appendix for sample procedu

16、res.) - Confirm the assembly is at static during the test; Confirm the proper operation of the firsr check; Confirm the proper operation of the second check; Confirm the proper operation of the relief valve; Confirm that the meter registers during low flow conditions; - - - - - Confirmflow. 5 . 0 5.

17、1 5.2 5.3 5.4 B. If the assembly passes, the assembly shall be returned to full operation. The occupants shall C. be notified and the system shall be restored to pretest condition. If the assembly fails any required test, notifica- tion of the responsible party shall be made and the assembly shall b

18、e repaired or replaced in accordance with local practices. Any assem- bly that has been repaired or replaced shall be retested to these requirements. Verification Testing Prior to the insertion of any test into the Appen- dix of this standard, an ASSE approved third party agency will review these fi

19、eld inspection procedures to insure that the procedure meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of this standard. The submittal of the field inspection procedure shall include the actual test procedure and the list of field testing equipment model numbers which are used to conduct the test procedur

20、e. The test procedure shall be reviewed to verify that all items in Sections 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 of this stan- dard are included. The test shall be performed on a two (2) and a six (6) inch model from two (2) different manufactur- ers. The assemblies under test shall be in compli- ance with ASSE Standa

21、rd 1047. The first series ef tests shall be run on both assemblies using the test equipment specified. Following the successful completion of these tests, the tests shall be repeated on both size assemblies with (a) a fouled or leaking first check and (b) a fouled or leaking second check, (c) a defe

22、ctive relief valve and (d) with shut-off valve leakage. The assembly shall be verified for both vertical and horizontal positions.
