1、Minimum Performance Requirements for Testing of Backflow Preventers Professiond Qualifications Standard ASSE 1020 Pressure Vacuum Breaker Assembly (PVBA) 1 .o 1.1 1.2 1.3 2.0 2.1 Scope, Purpose and Definitions Scope This standard applies to any field inspection per- formance requirements used to app

2、raise the perfor- mance of ASSE Standard 1020 Pressure Vacuum Breaker Assembly (PVBA). This operational per- formance test requirement includes all activities which shall be addressed while field testing. Purpose The purpose of this Standard shall be to establish minimum field inspection procedures

3、for ASSE Standard 1020 Pressure Vacuum Breaker Assembly (PVBA). Definitions Field inspection procedure-a test method which evaluates a backflow assembly for compliance to the minimum performance requirements. Field Testing Requirements Administrative Issues A. Initial arrangements shall be made with

4、 the re- sponsible party to schedule the test. B. Arrangements/notifications shall be made where a continuous water supply is necessary or where testing creates a special hazard, in- convenience or risk in buildings or for piping systems. Examples of such buildings or sys- C. tems include, but are n

5、ot limited by enumera- tion to hospitals, manufacturing plants, fire pro- tection systems, alarm companies/fire depart- ments, insurance carriers and others where spe- cial notification is necessary. The proper information, reporting forms and equipment shall be gathered to properly con- duct the te

6、st. 2.2 Site Issues A. Safety Inspection-The initial field evaluation shall be made for safety hazards in accordance with applicable Federal, State and local safety regulations and statutes. Some of the issues to be examined are, but are not limited by enu- meration to: - Confined spaces-ventilation

7、, access, oxygen content Chemical, electrical or flammable hazards Hazards related to elevation ofdevices Hazards to the tester and other persons - - - B. Inspection of the Installation The proper application of the assembly shall be confirmed for code compliance with respect to the degree of hazard

8、, mark- ings, prohibited locations (i . where sub- jected to flooding or freezing) and special installation requirements. The assembly orientation, elevation above point of use and direction of flow shall be confirmed as proper. The assembly shall be checked for alter- ations or special needs, such

9、as, but not limited by enumeration to the elevation (twelve inches above point of use) and not subject to back-pressure. 11、condition of shut-off valves, test cocks and air inlet valve; and adequacy of drainage when leak- age occurs. 5.0 3.0 Reporting A. The test report shall contain, but not be lim- ited by enumeration to the following informa- tion: manufacturers name, model number, serial number and size of device; ow

12、ners name and address; building address; physical location of assembly within the building (as descriptive as possible); description of application (i.e. equipment or system served); initial test re- sults (pass-fail of first check and second check, static line pressure); test gauge manufacturer, mo

13、del number, serial number and expiration date/last date of calibration; repairs made; fi- nal test results, as applicable; printed name, sig- nature and certification number of the tester; type of device, if form applies to different de- vices (RPZA, RPDA, DCVA, DDCA, PVB, SVB); affirmation statemen

14、t of valve perfor- mance at the date and time of the test. 5.1 5.2 5.3 B. The tester shall provide copies of the test results to the owner and other appropriate parties as required. The tester shall maintain a copy for hidher records. 5.4 4.0 Testing A. The following tests shall be performed in ac-

15、cordance with local procedures. (In the absence of a local procedure, note Appendix for sample procedures.) - Confirm the assembly is at static during the test; Confirm the proper operation of the check; Confirm the proper operation of the air inlet; - - - Confirmflow B. If theunit passes, the assem

16、bly shall be returned to full operation. The occupants shall be noti- fied and the system shall be restored to pretest condition. C. If the assemblies fail any required test, notifi- cation of responsible party shall be made and the assembly shall be repaired or replaced in accordance with local pra

17、ctices. Any assem- bly that has been repaired or replaced shall be retested to these requirements. Verification Testing Prior to the insertion of any test into the Appen- dix of this standard, an ASSE approved third party agency will review these field inspection procedures to insure that the proced

18、ure meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of this standard. The submittal of the field inspection procedure shall include the actual test procedure and the list of field testing equipment model numbers which are used to conduct the test procedure. The test procedure shall be reviewed to verify t

19、hat all items in Sections 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 of this Stan- dard are included. The test shall be performed on a one-half (1/2) inch and a two (2) inch model from two (2) different manufacturers. The assemblies under test shall be in compliance with ASSE Standard 1020. The first series of tests shall be

20、 run on both devices using the test equipment specified. Following the suc- cessful completion of these tests, the tests shall be repeated on both size assemblies with (a) a fouled or leaking check and (b) a fouled or leaking air inlet. All testing equipment shall be recalibrated as per testing equi
