、 European Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 34 “Sanitary taps Dimensions, quality”. In the course of CEN work, the members of this committee have long discussed whether it was appropriate to introduce surface appearance characteristics into product standards and more precisely

、 into prEN 200, certain member bodies regarding them as not of prime importance. Through resolution 249, the majority of CEN/TC 34 members did not deem it necessary to specify such characteristics in prEN 200 but unanimously accepted (Resolution 313) the development of this standard that can be refe

According to the Common CEN/CENELEC Rules, the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sw

、eden, Switzerland and United Kingdom. Foreword This standard complements product standards or draft standards already published currently under study within CEN/TC 34 single taps and mixer taps (EN 200), flow rate regulators (EN 246), thermostatic mixers and waste fittings . in which it is referred

For example, internal surfac

、es of hollow parts such as cross pieces, caps, knobs, are not deemed significant. 5 State of significant surfaces Significant surfaces shall be efficiently protected against corrosion, either owing to the nature of materials used or through adequate coating. 6 Defects of significant surfaces Before

、testing, significant surfaces shall not show any defect. Surfaces are examined with a naked eye, at a distance of about 300 mm, without any magnifying device. 7 Coating quality 7.1 Corrosion resistance testing neutral salt spray test 7.1.1 Requirement Upon completion of the salt spray test, apparent

、 surfaces shall not show any defect. 7.1.2 Procedure Carry out the test in the conditions defined in ISO 3768 as follows. Subject the partially dismantled tapware and its accessories to spraying for 200 h, including a rest period of 48 h half-way through the treatment, that is after the first 100 h

、of spraying. Maintain the heating of the cabinet during the rest period. Throughout testing, the cabinet shall only be opened to check and maintain the installation, the maximum spraying deadtime being 30 min a day. Heating shall not be interrupted, test pieces shall never be handled, washed or chec

、ked. After treatment and before visual examination, rinse the test pieces in water to remove all traces of salt. After testing, surfaces are examined with the naked eye, at a distance of about 300 mm, without any magnifying device. 7.2 Coating adherence test sectioning test 7.2.1 Requirement After t

、esting has been carried out at three different places, there shall be neither peeling nor separation of coating. 7.2.2 Procedure At a point of the coated surface, a grid of about 15 mm 15 mm is scribed with a tungsten carbide tipped sharp tool (see Figure 1). Gridding shall be performed by pulling t

、he scribe handle parallel to the surface. Marks shall be about 3 mm apart and of such a depth that this operation completely cuts the electrolytic coating, without crimping it onto the base metal. The test is repeated at three different places. Licensed Copy: sheffieldun sheffieldun, na, Fri Nov 03
