9、icy Committee and is the English language version of EN 171 “Personal eye-protection Infra red filters Transmittance requirements and recommended use”, published by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). EN 171 was produced as a result of international discussions in which the United King
10、dom took an active part. EN 171:1992 incorporates only minor editorial changes to EN 171:1986 but has been approved by CEN Member Bodies under the weighted voting procedures introduced in 1988 to coincide with the introduction of “New Approach” Directives from the Commission of the European Communit
11、y. There is no equivalent British Standard to EN 171. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal

20、CEN/TC 85 “Eye Protection equipment”, the Secretariat of which is held by AFNOR. This standard supersedes EN 171:1986. In accordance with Common CEN/CENELEC Rules, the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Icel

24、 against infra-red radiation. The other applicable requirements for these types of filters are given in EN 166. 26、ars and frames form the subject of clause 9 of EN 166. The scale number of infra-red filters comprises the code number 4, and the shade number corresponding to the filter, from 1.2 to 10 (see Table 1). 4 Transmittance requirements The definitions of transmittance are given in EN 165. The determinati
27、on of luminous transmittance is described in clause 6 of EN 167. The transmittance requirements for filters used for protection against infra-red radiation are given in Table 1. It is necessary in particular to take care that the chromaticity coordinates of the filters are compatible with good recognition of colour especially for good evaluati
31、on of melting furnace temperatures. Filters that do not conform to these criteria could lead to difficulties for users. 32、 use A.1 For protection against infra-red radiation filters should be selected from those classified by code numbers 4 (see Table 2). When the level of radiation is very high, filters with reflective surface treatment are recommended for IR protection because the reflection of the IR radiation resul
33、ts in a smaller rise in filter temperature.
