7、11-1999 National foreword This British Standard has been prepared under the direction of the Light Electrical Engineering Standards Policy Committee and is the English language version of EN 60335-2-54, “Safety of household and similar electrical appliances Part 2: Particular requirements for genera

8、l purpose cleaning appliances”, published by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC). It was derived by that organization from IEC Publication 335-2-54:1988 first edition, which has the same title as the European Standard. The CENELEC Common Modifications have been impl

9、emented at the appropriate places in the text of IEC Publication 335-2-54:1988 first edition, and are indicated by a side line in the margin. The foreword and preface of IEC Publication 335-2-54:1988 first edition, and the deleted parts of the original IEC text which do not form part of the text of

10、EN 60335-2-54 have been quoted in National appendix NA. Annexes designated “normative” are part of the body of the standard. Annexes designated “informative” are given for information only. National appendices are designated “informative”. This British Standard is to be read in conjunction with BS 3

11、456-201:1990 “General requirements”, including the amendments shown in the following table, which supplement and modify BS 3456-201. This proposal was discussed during the Brus

27、sels meeting in November 1988 when it was decided to submit a draft for EN 60335-2-54 to the voting procedure. This procedure started in October 1989. The text of this draft was ratified by the CENELEC Technical Board on the 11th of June 1990. Foreword This European Standard has been prepared by the

28、 secretariat of CENELEC Technical Committee 61. The following dates are applicable: For products which have complied with the relevant national standard before 1993-03-01, as shown by the manufacturer or by a certification body, this previous standard may continue to apply for production until 1998-

29、03-01. This document supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of IEC 335-2-54:1988, so as to convert that standard into the European Standard EN 60335-2-54. This standard has to be used in conjunction with EN 60335-1:1988, Safety of household and similar electrical appliances, Part 1: Gener

30、al requirements, including its amendments A2:1988, A5:1989 and A6:1989. Where a particular subclause of Part 1 is not mentioned in this Part 2, that subclause applies as far as is reasonable. Where this standard states “addition”, “modification” or “replacement”, the relevant text of Part 1 is to be

31、 adapted accordingly. Subclauses which are in addition to those in IEC 335-1 are numbered starting with 101. There are no special national conditions (snc) causing a deviation from this European Standard other than those listed in Annex ZX to EN 60335-1. There are no national deviations from this Eu

37、9993 1 Scope This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 1.1 Replacement: This standard applies to general purpose cleaning appliances for household use, part of which is held in the hand during operation. These appliances are intended for cleaning surfaces such as windows, walls, ceiling

38、s, and empty swimming pools. Cleaning may be achieved by the use of brushes and the like in combination with cleansing liquids with or without chemical additives. Means may be provided for heating and for applying pressure to the cleansing liquids. This standard does not take into account the specia

39、l hazards which exist in nurseries and other places where there are young children or aged or infirm persons without supervision; in such cases, additional requirements may be necessary. This standard does not apply to: cleaning appliances which are permanently fixed to a building; cleaning applianc

40、es operating with a pressure exceeding 2.5 MPa (25 bar) or with a liquid temperature exceeding 80 C; cleaning appliances for commercial or industrial use. For appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary. For appliances intended t

41、o be used in tropical countries, special requirements may be necessary. Attention is drawn to the fact that in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities and the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour. 2 Definitions This clause of P

42、art 1 is applicable except as follows: 2.2.30 Replacement: Normal load denotes operation of the appliance under the following conditions. Cleaning appliances are operated under the most unfavourable conditions specified in the manufacturers instructions. The cleaning head is pressed with a force of

43、30 N against a vertical pane of plate glass and moved over a length of 1 m at a rate of fifteen up and down strokes per min. The pane is continuously wetted with water from the mains at a temperature of (20 5) C so that a coherent film of water is maintained on the pane. Heating elements, if any, ar

44、e operated as in normal use. 3 General requirement This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 4 General notes on tests This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 5 Rating This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 6 Classification This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 7 Marking This clause of Part 1 is applicable exce

45、pt as follows: 7.1 Addition: If applicable, appliances shall also be marked with the rated water pressure. Appliances emitting cleansing liquid having a temperature exceeding 50 C shall be marked with the substance of the following: “Warning! Danger of scalding!” Appliances intended to clean swimmin

46、g pools shall be marked with the substance of the following: “Do not use in swimming pools filled with water” 7.12 Addition: The instruction sheet shall state that, after use and before cleaning, user maintenance including replacement or removal of parts, the plug of the power supply cord shall be w

47、ithdrawn from the socket outlet. 8 Protection against electric shock This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 8.4 Addition: Liquids used with these appliances are considered to be conducting and accessible. In addition, liquids shall not be in direct contact with reinforced insulation.

48、 9 Starting of motor-operated appliances This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 10 Input and current This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 11 Heating This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 11.7 Replacement: Appliances provided with heating elements and a liquid container which is refill

49、ed manually are operated until the container is empty. Other appliances are operated until steady conditions are established. 12 Operation under overload conditions of appliances with heating elements This clause of Part 1 is applicable.
