、 Figure 1. It comprises a) an electrode comb for measurement of insulation resistance, b) a “Y” electrode for measurement of breakdown voltage, c) eight pads for measurement of thickness. The main body of the panel shall be (100 ? 0,2) mm2, with a connection tab (84,0 ? 0,2) mm x (12,0 ? 0,2) mm (se

、e Figure 1). The reverse side of the panel shall be fully etched. 3.1.2 Preparation 3.1.2.1 Apparatus made of polyolefine or similar material is preferred for the preparation procedures. Apparatus made of borosilicate glass may also be suitable: it shall be checked by being rinsed in freshly prepare

、d solvent (as in 3.1.2.2) immediately before use. Solvent contained in the apparatus shall not decrease in resistivity by more than 10 % over a period of (15 ? 1) min. Apparatus used in this test shall be reserved for this use and not used for any other purpose. 3.1.2.2 The panel shall be cleaned in

、 a solvent of 75 % propan-2-ol and 25 % deionized water. Before use, the solvent shall be passed through a mixed bed deionizer column: after this treatment, the conductivity of the solvent at (20 ? 2) C shall be not more than 5,0 ?Sm1. 3.1.2.3 After cleaning, the panel shall be extracted with 320 ml

、 of deionized solvent in accordance with 3.1.2.2. The panel shall be placed in a suitable funnel over a vessel of appropriate size and the solvent directed in a fine jet over it, washing both sides. The solvent flow rate shall be such that the extraction takes place over a time of at least 300 s. Th

、e conductivity of the extract shall then be measured at (20 ? 2) C, using a suitable conductance meter with an accuracy of ?5 % or better. The conductivity of the extract shall be not greater than 50 ?Sm1. Page 6 EN 610862:2004 Licensed Copy: sheffieldun sheffieldun, na, Fri Nov 10 07:38:30 GMT+00:0

、0 2006, Uncontrolled Copy, (c) BSI 3.1.2.4 Commercial equipment is available for preparation of printed wire boards in production processes. Such equipment may also be suitable for cleaning of these test panels. The quality control indication of this equipment is usually in the form of ionic content

、, expressed as sodium chloride concentration in microgram per millilitre of solvent or microgram per square centimetre of panel. A suitable solution for checking the accuracy of indication contains 1,0 mgl1 of sodium chloride in solvent deionized as in 3.1.2.2. This is best prepared by dilution of a

、 stock standard solution (1,000 ? 0,001) g NaCl in 1 000 ml deionized water) immediately before use, the dilution factor being 1:1 000. NOTE Much of the commercially available equipment is calibrated in units of microgram per square inch. In these units, 1,5 gcm-2 is equivalent to 10 gin-2. 3.1.3 Ap

、plication The coating material to be tested shall be applied to all sides and edges of the panel by a single “controlled” dip with the longer axis vertical, and then cured in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. If the application is by vapour deposition, the technique to be followed shal

、l be as stated by the manufacturer or supplier. Terminal points shall be suitably masked. 3.2 Specimen B 3.2.1 Test panel The test panel for the tests for tackiness and flexibility shall be soft copper, approximately 100 mm ? 50 mm and (0,125 ? 0,010) mm in thickness. The panel shall be cleaned by t

、reating with a suitable solvent (for instance xylene-ethanol 1:1), then polished thoroughly with No. 000 steel wool and finally wiped free of any fingermarks or metal particles with the solvent and a lint-free cloth. The panel shall be used immediately (within 1 h) after cleaning. 3.2.2 Application

、The coating material to be tested shall be applied as for specimen A (see 3.1.3) and cured in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. 3.3 Specimen C 3.3.1 Test panel The test panel for mould growth test (see 7.7.1) shall consist of polished plate glass approximately 40 mm2, and shall be solv

、ent cleaned as described in ISO 1514. Standard microscope glass slides (75 mm ? 25 mm approximately) may also be used. 3.3.2 Application The coating material to be tested shall be applied as for specimen A (see 3.1.3) and cured in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. 3.4 Specimen D 3.4.1

、Test panel The test panel shall be of the same material as for specimen A, but fully etched and with a length of (125 ? 5) mm and a width of (13 ? 1) mm and a thickness of (0,75 ? 0,05) mm. It shall be marked by scribing a line perpendicular to the longer axis (25 ? 0,5) mm away from the end which i

、s to be ignited. The panel shall comply with the other requirements given in 4.3.3.3 of IEC 60249-1.
