6、02-2000 National foreword This British Standard has been prepared under the direction of the Shipbuilding and Marine Standards Committee and is identical with ISO 799:1980 “Shipbuilding Pilot ladders”, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Terminology and conventions

7、. The text of the International Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as a British Standard without deviation. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical with those used in British Standards; attention is especially drawn to the following. Wherever the words “Interna

8、tional Standard” and “ISO 799” appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as “British Standard” and “BS MA 92” respectively. NOTEMarking BS MA 92 on or in relation to a product is a claim by the manufacturer that the product has been manufactured in accordance with the requirements of t

9、he standard. The accuracy of such a claim is therefore solely the manufacturers responsibility. Enquiries as to the availability of third party certification to support such claims should be addressed to the Director, British Standards Institution, Maylands Avenue, Hemel Hempstead, Herts HP2 4SQ in

10、the case of certification marks administered by BSI or to the appropriate authority for other certification marks. There are no corresponding British Standards for the following International Standards referred to in the text: ISO 1181:1973, ISO 1461:1973 and ISO 2262:1972. With reference to ISO 118

11、1, to which reference is made in Table 1, manila side ropes and extension service ropes of grade 1 quality in accordance with BS 2052:1977 “Specification for ropes made from manila, sisal, hemp, cotton and coir” are acceptable for use in conjunction with this standard. With reference to ISO 1461, to

12、 which reference is made in 5.3, the coatings specified in BS 729:1971 “Hot dip galvanized coatings on iron and steel articles” are acceptable for use in conjunction with this standard. With reference to ISO 2262, to which reference is made in Table 1, a 64 mm size thimble specified in BS 3226:1960

13、“Thimbles for natural fibre ropes” is considered by Technical Committee SME/2 to be technically equivalent, for the application required by this British Standard, to the size in ISO 2262 specified in this standard. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a cont

14、ract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. 18、p concerned. 1 Scope and field of application This International Standard specifies requirements for a ships pilot ladder which is provided for a pilot to embark and disembark safely. 2 References ISO/R 887, Washers for hexagon bolts and nuts Metric series. ISO 2358, Prevailing torque-type steel hexagon locknuts Dimensions Metric series. 3 Dimensions The dimensions of the assembled pilot ladder and of the component

20、s shall be in accordance with Figure 1 to Figure 6. 4 Materials 4.1 The materials of components shall be in accordance with Table 1. Metal parts shall not be used in the pilot ladder construction, except for items 5, 9, 10 and 11. 4.2 Steps, spreader steps, replacement step, replacement spreader ste

21、p and split distance pieces shall each be made of hardwood (ash, oak, elm, beech or teak) free from knots, or from other materials having equivalent relative density, strength, durability and buoyancy. The lowest four steps may be made of rubber of sufficient strength and stiffness, or of other suit

22、able material of equivalent characteristics. Steps and spreaders shall have an efficient non-slip surface. 4.3 The lashing for side ropes shall consist of two- or three-ply marline of minimum breaking strength 800 N, or other suitable material of equivalent strength. 5 Construction 5.1 The pilot lad

23、der shall be assembled in accordance with Figure 1 and Table 2 to have an equal step spacing of 310 5 mm. 5.2 Steps shall be constructed from one piece to the dimensions given in Figure 2. Their non-slip upper surfaces shall be provided by either a) longitudinal grooving, or b) the application of an

24、 approved non-slip coating. 5.3 Spreader steps shall be constructed from one main bar and two split distance pieces to the dimensions given in Figure 4, held firmly together by four M5 cup square bolts, washers and prevailing torque nuts. Metal parts shall be galvanized in accordance with ISO 1461.

25、Spreaders shall be positioned in accordance with Table 2. 28、seized together as closely as possible above and below each step by a figure-of-eight racking seizing. The side ropes below the bottom step shall have a double racking seizing as shown in Figure 1. A racking seizing shall be applied below the rope thimbles. Side ropes shall each be of one continous

29、length without joints. 5.5 A single 20 mm diameter (circumference 64 mm) manila extension service rope 3 000 mm in length (minimum) shall be fitted to each side rope thimble by means of an eye splice. 5.6 All rope ends shall be whipped for a distance of 25 mm with waxed sailmakers twine or equivalen

30、t material. 5.7 One spare replacement step shall be constructed from a single section to the dimensions given in Figure 5, and assembled with two split distance pieces as required in 5.3. 5.8 One spare replacement spreader shall be constructed from one top section to the dimensions given in Figure 6

31、, and assembled with two split distance pieces as required in 5.3. 6 Designation Pilot ladders conforming to this International Standard shall be designated by the following indications, in the order given: number of this International Standard; number of steps (Table 2). Example: The designation fo

32、r a pilot ladder consisting of 14 steps is: Pilot ladder ISO 799 S14 NOTEThe length of a pilot ladder determined by the designation shall include an allowance for a 15 adverse list. Spare or additional components shall be designated by reference to the relevant International Standard. Example: The d
