26、nternational Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (ISO member bodies). This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition (ISO 9988-1:1998), of which it constitutes a minor revision in which the main changes are the deletio

31、n of the years of publication of the normative references in Clause 2 and the updating of the number of the ASTM standard used in the second example in Clause 4. 34、thermoplastic materials, which may be used as the basis for specifications. Polyoxymethylene materials are thermoplastic materials composed principally of long-chain synthetic homopolymers and copolymers of formaldehyde. The repeating unit in the molecular chain is CH2O as an integral part of the ma

35、in polymer chain resulting from polymerization of formaldehyde. 1.2The types of polyoxymethylene plastic are differentiated from each other by a classification system based on appropriate levels of the following designatory properties: a)melt mass-flow rate or melt volume-flow rate, b)tensile modulu

36、s, and on information about basic polymer parameters, intended application, method of processing, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcing materials. 1.3This part of ISO 9988 is applicable to all polyoxymethylene homopolymers and to copolymers of polyoxymethylene and blend

37、s of polymers containing polyoxymethylene. It applies to materials ready for normal use in the form of powder, granules or pellets and to materials unmodified and modified by colorants, additives, fillers, etc. 1.4It is not intended to imply that materials having the same designation necessarily giv

38、e the same performance. This part of ISO 9988 does not provide engineering data, performance data or data on processing conditions which may be required to specify materials for particular end-use applications. If such additional properties are required, they shall be determined in accordance with t

39、he test methods specified in part 2 of this International Standard. 1.5In order to specify a thermoplastic material for a particular application or to ensure reproducible processing, additional requirements may be given in data block 5 (see 3.1). 42、es 3Designation and specification system 3.1General The designation and specification system for thermoplastics is based on the following standardized pattern: The designation consists of an optional description block, reading “Thermoplastics”, and an identity block comprising the International Stan

43、dard number and an individual-item block. For unambiguous designation, the individual-item block is subdivided into five data blocks comprising the following information: Data block 1: Identification of the plastic by its symbol POM in accordance with ISO 1043-1 and information about the polymerizat

44、ion process or composition of the polymer (see 3.2). Data block 2: Position 1: Intended application or method of processing (see 3.3). Positions 2 to 8: Important properties, additives and supplementary information (see 3.3). Data block 3: Designatory properties (see 3.4). Data block 4: Fillers or r

45、einforcing materials and their nominal content (see 3.5). Data block 5: For the purpose of specifications, a fifth data block may be added containing additional information (see 3.6). The first character of the individual-item block shall be a hyphen. The data blocks shall be separated from each oth

46、er by commas. If a data block is not used, this shall be indicated by doubling the separation sign, i.e. by two commas (,). 3.2Data block 1 In this data block, after the hyphen, polyoxymethylene plastics are identified by the symbol “POM” in accordance with ISO 1043-1, followed by a hyphen and the c

47、ode-letter H for homopolymers or K for copolymers.
