9、ions and finish of mild steel, corrosion-resisting steel and aluminium alloy washers suitable for use with bolts with Unified hexagons for aircraft. The washers are intended primarily for use for packing purposes. 2 Materials The washers shall be manufactured from the appropriate material specified
10、in Table 1. 3 Dimensions The washers shall conform to the dimensions specified in Table 2. NOTEThe figures in British units are to be regarded as the standard. A table to assist in the conversion of the dimensions to approximate metric equivalents is given in the Appendix. More accurate conversions
11、should be based on the tables in BS 350. 4 Finish Mild steel washers shall be cadmium plated in accordance with the latest issue of Ministry of Supply aircraft process specification D.T.D.904. 5 Freedom from defects a) The washers shall be free from surface defects, scale, pitting and burrs. They sh
12、all be flat, within a tolerance of 0.005 in., with parallel faces. b) Washers may be rejected at any time for faults in, or revealed by, manufacture, although they have been made from material passed previously for chemical composition and mechanical properties. 6 Identification The washers shall be
13、 identified for any purpose by the relevant British Standard numbers (see Table 1), together with the appropriate code letter shown in Table 2. Where an oversize is required, the identity shall be suffixed by the letter Y. eg. BS SP 123J: A corrosion-resisting steel washer for use with a B in Unifie
14、d bolt, standard size. BS SP 123JY: a corrosion-resisting steel washer for use with a B in Unified bolt, oversize.
