8、or automatic handling. 2 Introduction This document provides common dimensioning necessary to package components for automatic handling. Alternate methods of containing components to the carrier are attached. 3 Applicable Documents Unless otherwise specified the following documents form a part of th

9、is Standard to the extent specified herein. EIA-3 83 Preparation for the Delivery of Electrical and Electronic Components EIA-541 Packaging Matenal Standards for ESD Sensitive Items EIA-556 Electronic Industries Association Outer Shipping Container Bar Code Label Standard EIA-583 Packaging Material

10、Standards for Moisture Sensitive Items 4 Requirements 4.1 Packaged components must meet the requirements defined in the figures and tables presented herein. 4.2 Procurement documents and quotation requests should include the following information: (a) Reference to this Interim Standard by Title, Num

11、ber and Attachment(s). ) Packaging quality requirements including maximum number of missing components. (c) Container and reel marking requirements (including bar code labeling if required), and reel diameter. (d) Shipping conditions, storage conditions and storage time. 4.3 Components are to be pre

12、vented from falling out of the carrier tape. 4.4 The packaging method shall not obstruct any part of the sprocket holes. The packaging method shd not adve

14、rsely affect the mechanical, electrical or marking characteristics of the components. For intermediate and final packaging, refer to ELA-383 “Preparation, for the Delivery of Electrical and Electronic Components”, EIA-54 1 “Packaging Material Standards for ESD Sensitive Items”, and EIA-5 83 “Packagi

15、ng Material Standards for Moisture Sensitive Items.” The packaging method shall be suitable to withstand storage of the packaged components without danger of migration of contaminants onto the terminations, or the emission of vapors which would make soldering dacult or deteriorate the component prop

16、erties or terminations by chemical action. In addition, the packaging method shall not become detached, such that the components do not remain in position after storage (see Subclause 4.2(d). Components may be removed from the carrier tape. ln no case shall the removal affect the package functionali

17、ty. There shall not be two ,(2) or more consecutive components missing &om any single packaging boundary with multiple components or consecutive packaging boundaries with single components. Components with bottom-only terminations shall be packaged with the terminations facing away fiom the componen

18、t access side (see Figure I). Reels as defined by Figure 2 shall be permanently marked with visible recycling symbology, if applicable. Bar code labeling, if required, shall be on the side of the reel opposite the round sprocket holes. Refer to EIA-556. Mechanical and electrical orientatiodpolarizat

The space denned by Ao, Bo, Kn, and Ki shall be referred to as the “virtual boundary“ and confgured to provide the following: (a) I ) (c) One (1) or more components may be packaged within th

26、e virtual boundary. No part or feature of the component(s) may extend beyond the virtual boundary. The tape surface within the virtual boundary may contain any number of surface features. These surface features may include prepunched holes, pressed tabs, embossments, pocket cavities or other mechani

27、cal features to secure the component. These surface features will in no way restrict the functions of the feeder. The components(s) located within the virtuai boundary can be removed from the carrier tape in a vertical direction without interference from any other components. Extraction force requir

28、ed to remove components from the carrier tape shall not exceed 3.3 N maximum calibrated gauge reading. Kndefnes the maximum distance from the top surface of the carrier tape to the lowest feature below the carrier tape surface. Ki defines the maximum distance from the top surface of the carrier tape
