This specification covers the requirements for optical grade opaquing paints to be used over heat sensitive plastic
2、lenses for exterior lighting applications having heat dis- tortion temperatures below 82 C. This specification includes first and second surface painting applications. 1.1 These opaquing paints are part of a total painted product system and must meet the requirements set forth in this speci- ficatio
3、n and those shown on engineering drawings. This specification shall be used in conjunction with the Approved Paint on Plastics Systems (APOPS), a section of Materials Specification File (MATSPC) which lists approved substrate, cleaning, priming, and topcoat combinations. 2 REFERENCED STANDARDS. 4、OOM GM4389M GM4348M GM4465P GM4350M GM9071P GM4367M GM91 25P GM9163P GM9505P GM9509P 3 REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 RESTRICTED AND REPORTABLE CHEMICALS (GMlOOOM). By 1997 start of saleable vehicles, all materials supplied to this specification must comply with the require- ments listed in GMlOOOM, “Restricted
5、and Reportable Chemicals.” 3.2 SURFACE PREPARATION. The surface must be clean and free of surface defects which would affect photometric performance or appearance. 3.3 APPLICATION. Reduce and apply uniformly to achieve total opacity 1 mil (25pm). 3.4 CURE. Surface of part must be within the range of
6、 time and temperature specified by the supplier for cure, and must be checked per GM9509P Time in oven and ambient temperature must be regulated to meet this requirement without exceeding over/under bake specifications. 3.5 APPEARANCE. Must meet the requirements of GM4348M with the exception of glos
7、s and DO1 which shall be specified on the part drawing. 3.6 PERFORMANCE. Finished lens must meet the require- ments of GM4465P with no evidence of blistering or other appearance change at the end of 96 h followed by GM9071P with a minimum of 99% retention. Additionally, the finished lens must meet t
8、he requirements of GM9505P (cycle A) and 24 h of humidity (GM4465P) followed by GM9071P with a minimum of 99% retention. 3.7 APPROVAL. When testing is satisfactorily completed per the above requirements, approval to this specification will be given. The opaquing paints per this specification must be
9、 evaluated and approved for each specific design. 3.8 APGPS. For full specific system approval refer to the Qualification Procedure Section in the APOPS. 4 SOURCE SHIPMENT RESPONSIBILITY. It will be the responsibility of the supplier to insure that the material is not exposed to temperatures during
10、shipment which would cause the material to fail to meet any of the require- ments of this specification. 5 INITIAL SOURCE APPROVAL. No shipment shall be made by any supplier until representative initial production samples have been approved by engineering as meeting the requirements of this specific
11、ation. 5.1 Completed copies of the Material Safety Data Sheet meeting GM information requirements must be submitted with any new submissions or whenever a composition change has occurred. 6 INSPECTION AND REJECTION. All shipments of material or parts under contract or purchase order manufac- tured t
12、o this specification shall be equivalent in every respect to the initial samples approved by engineering. There shall be no changes in either formulation or manufacturing processes permitted without prior notification and approval by engineer- ing. Lack of notification by the supplier constitutes gr
13、ounds for rejection of any shipment. While samples may be taken from incoming shipments and checked for conformance to this specification, the supplier shall accept the responsibility for incoming shipments meeting this specification without depen- dence upon purchaser s inspection. In addition the
14、supplier shall be responsible for submitting a CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS with each batch of material arriving at a plant. This document shall be prepared and provide data in accord- ance with the requirements detailed in GM4389M. 7 APPROVED SOURCES. Engineering qualification of an approved source is r
15、equired for this specification. Only sources listed in the GM Materials File under this specification number have been qualified by engineering as meeting the requirements of this specification. Sources are available through the on-line MATSPC System. 7.1 MATERIAL PERFORMANCE. For a coating to be in
16、i- tially approved as a source, samples must meet the requirements of GM4367M. GM4350M (Class AO), GM4465P(b.a.), GM9505P (c.a.), GM9125P (d), and GM9163P (d).
