1、I GENERAL MOTORS ENGINEERING STANDARDS I Materials and Processes - Paint I EXTERIOR DECORATIVE SECOND SURFACE FINISHES ON PLASTIC PARTS 9984288 1 SCOPE. This specification covers the basic require- ments for decorative coatings used on the second surface of exterior acrylic or polycarbonate plastic

2、parts. Because these coatings are intended for the decoration of the part when viewed from the front side, they may be opaque or translucent and may or may not be used in combination with vacuum met- alizcd surfaces. 1,l These coatings are part of a total lighting product system and must meet the re

3、quirements set forth in this specification and those shown on engineering drawings. This specification shall be used in conjunction with the Approved Paint on Plastics Systems (APGPS), a section of Materials Specification File (MATSPC) which lists approved substrate, cleaning, prim- ing, and topcoat

All materials supplied to this specification must comply with the requirements listed in GMlOOOM, Restricted and Reportable Chemicals. 3

5、.2 SURFACE PREPARATION. The substrate surface must be clean and free from surface defects. 3.3 APPLICATION. Reduce and apply uniformly to achieve dry film thickness per supplier recommendations. 3.4 CURE. Surface of the part must be within the range of time and temperature agreed upon by the supplie

6、r and the pro- cessor. Time in oven and ambient temperature must be regulated to meet this requirement without exceeding over/ under bake specifications. 3.5 APPEARANCE. Shall meet appearance standards as specified on the part drawing. 3.5.1 When applied on the second surface of clean exterior acryl

7、ic or polycarbonate, the coating shall be free from defects such as loss of adhesion, blisters, cracks, thin spots, and pin holes. 3.5.2 After Exposure. There shall be no blistering, peeling, cracking, loss of adhesion, discoloration, or kindred failure of the coating visible to the naked eye after

The following requirements are applicable to coatings which have completed a minimum aging period of 72 h following the baking and drying operation. 3.6.1 Must pass humidity resistance per GM446SP for 96 h followed by Tape Adhesion (GM9071P) with no change of appearance an

The paints per this specification must be evaluated and approved for each specific design. 3.8 APOPS. For full specific system approval refer to the Qualification Procedure Section in the APOPS. 4 SOU

13、RCE SHIPMENT RESPONSIBILITY. It will be the responsibility of the supplier to insure that the material is not exposed to temperatures during shipment which would cause the material to fail to meet any of the requirements of this specification. 5 INITIAL SOURCE APPROVAL.
