2、testing to determine if a material will exhibit water spotting on the finish in the form of color change, ring formation, or other objectionable appearance changes after the water has completely evaporated. In addition, the procedure documents the testing to determine if there will be an objectionab

3、le change in hand as a result of applying water after the water has completely evaporated. 4、fied. 2.1 External Standards/Specifications. ISO 3696 2.2 GM Standards/Specifications. GMW3221 3 Test Equipment Graduated cylinder Glass Stirring Rod 4 Test Material Grade 3 water 5 Test Method 5.1 Summary of Test Method. Grade 3 water is poured on the center of a test specimen. The amount of water

5、is specified in the material specification. If necessary, the specimen size is adjusted so that the water is not allowed to completely wick to any edge. After the water has completely evaporated, the specimen is evaluated for permanent visual changes or a permanent change in hand. 5.2 Test Sample Pr

6、eparation. Each test requires a specimen approximately 250 X 250 mm. 5.3 Test Procedure. 5.1 Condition the test specimen for a minimum of 24 hours to the requirements of GMW3221 Code A prior to testing. 5.2 Based on the material specification, measure the appropriate amount of grade 3 water. The wat

7、er should be at room temperature 22 3C. 5.3 Place the specimen flat on a glass, ceramic, or other inert surface and pour the water on the center of the test specimen. For fabric and carpet, use a stirring rod and gently massage the surface to work the water into the specimen until all water is absor

8、bed. There shall be no water remaining above the surface of the fabric or carpet. 5.4 Allow the water to evaporate for a minimum of 24 hours in a conditioned GMW3221 Code A environment. 5.5 For napped materials, gently comb the specimen against the nap. 6 Evaluation and Rating 6.1 Examine the specim

9、en visually for any staining, change in color, change in finish or ring formation as compared to adjacent areas that were not exposed to water. Other than combing a napped material, no additional attempts shall be made to clean the specimen. 6.2 Feel a specimen that was not exposed to water with you

10、r hand. Feel the specimen in the area that was exposed to water and brushed (if napped) and report any change in hand. An example of a change in hand would be a permanent noticeable increase in stiffness. The specimen may also be evaluated for tackiness or a change in slipperiness. 7 Report 7.1 Repo

11、rt any visual changes in accordance with the rating scale in the materials specification. 7.2 Report any changes in hand in accordance with the rating scale in the material specification. 8 Safety This method may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment.
