1、 ENGINEERING STANDARDS Material Specification Adhesives 9985699 Adhesive, Structural Metal, Tape, Expandable 1 Scope This specification covers roll-coated or extruded tape adhesives suitable for bonding oily galvanized, or CRS steel automotive parts or panels. These tape materials are not weldable.
2、1.1 This material shall be compatible with production phosphatizing, ELPO and topcoat systems, and shall not be adversely affected by bake temperatures up to 204C. 1.2 This material shall be supplied on a release liner, either as a die-cut part, or on a continuous roll. The tape shall be easily remo
3、ved from its liner without sticking or stretching. The material shall have adequate tack to adhere to oily production metal substrate to facilitate assembly of the parts without displacement of the adhesive material. 1.3 The adhesive to intended to expand and cure in the heat of the E-Coat paint ove
4、ns. The resulting adhesion of the material to the substrate, following the cure, shall render an adhesive strength that is in all conditions, greater than the cohesive strength of the cured material. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless otherwise specified. 2.1

GM9037P GMW3001 GM9763P GMW3059 GM9828P 3 Requirements 3.1 Toxicity. The toxicity shall be disclosed in kind and magnitude, as required, by the GM Material Saf
6、ety Data Sheet. In addition, the material must have full approval of the appropriate medical department prior to production use. 3.2 Stability (GM9763P). Material conditioned using potential storage conditions must be capable of passing all the requirements of this specification. 3.2.1 Elevated Temp
7、erature Stability. As shipped, the adhesive must be capable of withstanding a temperature of 55C for 72 h, without deleterious effects. 3.2.2 Low Temperature Stability. As shipped, the adhesive must be capable of withstanding three cycles of the applicable cycle schedule outlined in A2 of GM9763P. 3
8、.2.3 Storage Stability. The shelf life of the adhesive in closed containers shall be 90 days at a temperature not to exceed 35C. Shelf life of the material commences upon the receipt of the material from the manufacturer. 3.3 Nonsmoking (GM9828P). The adhesive shall not smoke up to 177C and shall no
9、t be classified greater than a slight smoker at 191C. 3.4 Material Properties Uncured Adhesive. See Table 1. 3.5 Material Properties Cured Adhesive. See Table 2. 3.6 Adhesive Properties. Test specimens, prepared as specified in the designated procedure, must meet the requirements of the following sp

13、for Parts. 6 Approved Sources Engineering qualification of an approved source is required for this specification. Only sources listed in the GM Materials File (i.e., MATSPC) under this specification number have been qualified by engineering as meeting the requirements of this specification. 7 Coding
