1、 ENGINEERING STANDARDS Material Specification Plastics GMP.PPE.014 Polyphenylene Ether - Expandable Copolymer Foam - General Purpose 1 Scope This specification covers the properties of a general purpose, natural or black, modified poly- phenylene ether expandable copolymer foam. 1.1 Paintability. Ap

2、proved paint systems that can be used on this material are listed in the GM Approved Paint on Plastic Systems (GM APOPS) database. 1.2 Typical Applications. Typical applications include the following: bumper fascia supports. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless

3、 otherwise specified. 2.1 External Standards/Specifications. ASTM C203 ASTM D3030 ASTM C447 ASTM E203 ASTM D1621 2.2 GM Standards/Specifications. GM9311P GMW3059 GMW3001 3 Requirements 3.1 Requirements On Test Specimens. Tests shall be conducted using the latest issue of the test methods indicated.

4、Suitable precautions should be taken to ensure that applicable safe limits are not exceeded when conducting test procedures, processes, and/or handling the materials required by this specification. Test specimens for the mechanical properties shall be saw cut from molded plaques. Tests shall be cond

5、ucted 40 h min after molding and immediately following a conditioning period of 24 h minimum at 22 3C and 50 5% RH unless otherwise specified. All test- ing shall be done on unannealed samples. Tests made on expanded beads, (i.e., particle size distribution, water content, and pentane content, shall

6、 be conducted 24 h minimum after manufacture of the beads and/or anytime after the molder receives the beads.
