10、p of contracts and in other matters relating to trade. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. It is not applicab

13、le to refined distilled fatty acids. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this British Standard the following definitions apply. 2.1 acid oil the product obtained from alkaline refining of a crude fat a

14、nd the acid neutralization of the resulting aqueous soapstock 2.2 recovered fatty acid distillate the product obtained by distillation of a crude fat 2.3 parent fat the material from which the acid oil or recovered fatty acid distillate is derived NOTEThe word “fat” is used to denote any animal or v

15、egetable fat or oil whether in the liquid or solid state. 3 Iodine value The iodine value shall be not more than three units outside the range given in Table 1 for the parent fat when both are determined by the method described in BS 684-2.13. 16、le matter contents 4 Moisture and other volatile matter The content of moisture and other volatile matter shall be not more than 2.0 % (m/m) when determined by method A described in BS 684-1.10. 5 Insoluble impurities The content of impurities insoluble in light petroleum shall be not more than 0.4

17、% (m/m) when determined by the method described in BS 684-2.3:1983 using the solvent specified in 4.1 of that standard. 6 Moisture and other volatile matter and insoluble impurities The sum of the contents of moisture and other volatile matter when determined as in clause 4 and of insoluble impuriti

18、es when determined in clause 5 shall be not more than 2.0 % (m/m). 7 Ash The ash shall be not more than 0.25 % (m/m) when determined by the method described in BS 684-2.2. 8 Dissolved soap (alkalinity) The dissolved soap (alkalinity) shall be not more than 0.2 % (m/m) when determined by the method d

19、escribed in BS 684-2.5 and expressed as sodium hydroxide. 9 Acidity The acidity shall be 40 % (m/m) to 75 % (m/m) for acid oils and 75 % (m/m) to 90 % (m/m) for recovered fatty acid distillates when determined by method 1 described in BS 684-2.10 and calculated as the acid appropriate to the parent

20、fat or, in the case of mixtures, as oleic acid. The mineral acidity shall be not more than 3.0 when determined by method 3 described in BS 684-2.10. 10 Unsaponifiable matter The unsaponifiable matter content shall be within 1 % (m/m) (absolute) of that given in Table 1 for the parent fat when both a

21、re determined by method 1 described in BS 684-2.7. 11 Saponifiable matter The saponifiable matter content shall not be lower than 95 % (m/m) when calculated by the method described in BS 684-2.15. 12 Polyethylene-type plastics The polyethylene-type plastics content shall be not greater than 200 mg/k

22、g when determined by any of the methods described in BS 684-2.26.
