11、als without built-in trap Connecting dimensions” on the grounds that the Bedford type spigot specified therein is considered unhygienic, this British Standard has been prepared under the direction of the Sanitary Appliances Standards Committee, in order to specify the dimensions, design and quality

12、of vitreous china bowl urinals. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. General 1 Scope This British Standard specifies the materials, quality, design and dimensions of vitreous china bowl urinals (rimless type) of two si

15、zes, see Table 1. 2 References The titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 3 Marking Bowl urinals manufactured to the requirements of this standard shall be clearly and permanently marked with the following information. a) The manufacturers name o

16、r trade mark. b) The number of this British Standard, i.e. BS 5520. 4 Inspection The purchaser or his representative shall, if required, be granted facilities for the purpose of inspection of finished goods prior to delivery. 5 Rejection The purchaser shall have the option of rejecting any article p

17、urporting to comply with the requirements of this standard if it fails to meet any of those requirements. Minor imperfections which do not affect the appearance or efficiency of the bowl urinal shall not constitute a valid reason for rejection. Section 2. Materials, quality and design 6 Materials an

18、d quality Bowl urinals shall be manufactured from vitreous china complying with the requirements of BS 3402. 7 Design Bowl urinals shall conform to the dimensions and permissible deviations given in Table 1 and illustrated in Figure 1. The bowls shall be suitable for use with a top supply spreader o

19、r shall be provided with a back inlet spreader. (See reference letter B Table 1.) The bowl shall be without flushing rim and overflow. All surfaces which will be exposed after fixing shall be glazed and shall be free from ridges, crevices and inaccessible cavities which might collect dirt and lime s

20、cale and/or inhibit cleaning. The bowl shall be so constructed that when fixed in its correct upright position it shall empty by gravity, completely. The bowl urinal shall be designed to operate with cisterns made to the requirements of BS 1876, without splashing. 8 Fixings and support The bowl urin

21、al shall be provided with adequate means of support, preferably of the concealed type. Manufacturers shall supply details of fixings on request.
