7、ished as the second edition in 1992 and IS0 898-6, Mechanical properties of fasteners - Part 6: Nuts with specified proof load values - Fine pitch thread, published as second edition in 1994, without making any modification on the technical contents. Annex 3, specified the mechanical properties of s

8、teel nuts classes 4T to 12T not specified in the corresponding International Standards, will be expired on 31st December 2000. Among the descriptions of Annexes 1 and 2, dot underlined Remarks and Informative references are not contained in the based International Standards. 1 Scope This Japanese In

9、dustrial Standard specifies mechanical properties of steel nuts. 2 Mechanical property 2 . 1 05 and 4 to 12 shall be according to Annex 1 (normative). The mechanical property for steel nuts (Coarse thread) of property classes 04, 2.2 04, 05 and 5 to 12 shall be according to Annex 2 (normative). The

10、mechanical property for steel nuts (Fine pitched thread) of property classes 2 . 3 of property classes 4T to 12T shall be according to Annex 3 (normative). 12、th specified proof load values (coarse thread) when tested at room temperature. Properties will vary at higher and lower temperature. Scope It applies to nuts - with nominal thread diameters up to and including 39 mm; - with diametedpitch combinations according to JIS B 0205; - with thread tolerance

13、s 6H according to JIS B 0209; - with specific mechanical requirements; - with widths across flats as specified in JIS B 1002 (excluding those meshed - with nominal heights greater than or equal to 0.5d; - made of carbon steel or low alloy steel. It does not apply to nuts requiring special properties

14、 such as - locking abilities (see JIS B 1056); - weldability; - corrosion resistance (see JIS B 1054); - ability to withstand temperatures above +300 O C or below -50 O C . Remarks 1 Nuts made from free-cutting steel should not be used above +250 O C . 2 For special products such as nuts for high-st

27、e referee method for conforming to Annex 2. The nut shall be assembled on a hardened and threaded test mandrel as shown in Annex 2 Fig. 1 and Annex 2 Fig. 2. For referee purposes, the axial tensile test is decisive. The proof load shall be applied against the nut in an axial direction as shown in An

28、nex 2 Table 6, and shall be held for 15 s. The nut shall resist the load without failure by stripping or rupture, and shall be removable by the fingers after the load is released. If the thread of the mandrel is damaged during the test, the test should be discarded. It may be necessary to use a manu

29、al wrench to start the nut in motion. Such wrenching is permissible provided that it is restricted to one half turn and that the nut is then removable by the fingers. The test mandrel shall be hardened to 45 HRC minimum, and threaded to tolerance class 5h6g. Excepting that the tolerance of the major

30、 diameter shall be the last quarter of the 6g range on the minimum material side. 32、s tests shall be carried out on a longitudinal section through the nut axis and with impressions placed as close as possible to the nominal major diameter of the nut thread. The Vickers hardness test is the referee test whether the specimen conform to Annex 2 Table 5 and where practicable a load of

33、HV 30 shall be applied. If Brinell or Rockwell hardness tests are applied, the effects shall be converted into Vickers values. The Vickers hardness test shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of JIS Z 2244. The Brinell hardness test shall be carried out in accordance with the requi

34、rements of JIS Z 2243. 44、nd the test, inspection and marking of nuts with property classes 4T to 12T (Coarse thread and fine pitched thread). This Annex 3 applies to nuts which comply with the followings: Scope Type of nuts Nuts, such as hexagonal nuts, square nuts, slotted nuts, cap nuts and round nuts, required the mechan

45、ical properties irrespective of the shape. Threads Nuts with threads of basic profile, nominal diameter and pitch as specified in JIS B 0205 and JIS B 0207. Nominal diameter of thread Nuts with a nominal diameter of 2 mm to 39 mm. Width across flats or outer diameter, and effective length of thread
