9、ion of the technical contents on the corresponding parts, but some items, which are not specified in the corresponding International Standard, are supplemented in this Japanese Industrial Standard. 1 Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies electroplated coatings (hereafter referred to as “

10、coating“) of zinc on the significant surface of iron or steel basis metal for the purpose of preventing corrosion. Remarks: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard is as follows. 11、: When chromate conversion coatings are applied for the purpose of preventing corrosion, the procedures shall conform to JIS H 8625. 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard, constitute provisions of this Standard. 20、 as roughness, burnt deposits, cracks, pits, exposures of basis metal, and from such signs of inferior adhesiveness as blisters and peeling, and stains, flaws, or others. 21、hall conform to the agreement between the parties concerned with delivery. 2 If a contact mark for electric current is unavoidable on the significant surface, its position shall be the subject of agreement between the parties concerned with delivery. 6.2 The minimum thickness of coating when being t

22、ested according to 9 . 3 , shall conform to the requirements in Table 1. The minimum thickness of coating, Informative reference: When there is no specification on the significant surface, the surface area on which a ball of 20 mm in diameter does not touch shall not be regarded as the significant s

23、urface. In the case of the product whose significant surface is less than 100 mm2, the minimum thickness shall be the lowest value of the average thicknesses, and for the product having 100 mm2 or larger significant surface, the minimum thickness be the lowest value of local thicknesses. 5.3 Adhesiv

24、eness of coating according to 9.4, there shall be no peeling or blister on the coating. When the adhesiveness of coating is tested 5.4 Application of chemical conversion coating The application of chemical conversion coating shall follow the agreement between the parties concerned with delivery. Rem

25、arks 1 Chromate conversion coatings among the chemical conversion coatings can improve the corrosion resistance of zinc coatings. The grades and typee of chromate conversion coatings to be applied to zinc coatings shall follow JIS H 8625. 2 At the specific request of the purchaser, chromate treatmen

26、t may be omitted or replaced with other conversion coatings. 6 Basis metal The condition of basis metal prior to plating gives serious influences on the quality of coatings. Especially, when the basis material is supplied from the purchaser, the purchaser must indicate the information concerning the

27、 basis material on the process specification or others. 7 Stress relief before electroplating When stress relief before electroplating is required for the basis metal of iron or steel, the conditions required shall follow the agreement between the parties concerned with delivery. The conditions of t

28、hermal treatment for stress relief before electroplating, which are stated in the corresponding International Standard as an Informative reference, are shown in Annex 1 (informative). 8 Hydrogen embrittlement relief after electroplating When hydrogen embrittlement relief after electroplating is requ

29、ired for the electroplating on the basis metal of iron or steel, the hydrogen embrittlement relief shall be carried out by thermal treatment within 4 hours after electroplating. The conditions of thermal treatment shall follow the agreement between the parties concerned with delivery. -,-,- 4 H 8610

30、 : 1999 The conditions of thermal treatment for hydrogen embrittlement relief after electroplating, which are stated in the corresponding International Standard as an Informative reference, are shown in Annex 2 (informative). 9 Tests 9.1 Preparation of test piece Generally, test pieces are prepared

31、from products. If it is impossible to use the product itself as a test piece, a substitute test piece can be used for the test. The substitute test piece must be prepared adopting the same basis material and under the same condition as those used when the products were manufactured as far as possibl

32、e. 9.2 Appearance test Carry out the appearance test with naked eyes, and check the existence of defects on the coating such as roughness, burnt deposits, cracks, pits, exposure of basis metal, and signs of poor adhesiveness, stains, flaws or others. 9.3 Thickness test Thickness test shall be carrie

33、d out by any one of, a microscopic sectional thickness test, electromagnetic thickness test, coulometric thickness test, fluorescent X-ray thickness test, beta back-scatter thickness test, profilometer thickness test by micrometer methods, and mass weighing thickness test by coating fracture of plat

34、ed amount test methods, which are specified in JIS H 8501. 9.4 Adhesion test Adhesion test shall conform to the test method specified in JIS H 8604. 10 Inspection The inspection shall be carried out as follows. a) Coatings shall be tested according to 9, and those, which have met the requirements gi

35、ven in 5, shall be judged to be acceptable. b) Test pieces shall be taken out from the lot composed of the same products in accordance with JIS Z 9031. Remarks 1 The selection of inspection items and testing method shall follow the agreement between the parties concerned with delivery. 2 The number

36、of test pieces, the order of inspections, the spots to be inspected, and employing of substitute test piece, shall follow the agreement between the parties concerned with delivery. 11 Designation of electroplated coating The electroplated coatings shall be designated in accordance with JIS H 0404. 45、ral thermal treatment conditions for stress relief, which is to be carried out on iron or steel basis metal, before electroplating for information. 2 Thermal treatment condition Apply the thermal treatment under the conditions shown in Annex 1 Table 1 as required.
