Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard

5、 specifies the method for assessing the electrical characteristics of ultrasonic testing instrument that is manually operated, and is provided with a display unit using the puise echo technique, at the time of manufacture using electronic measuring instruments. Remarks: The following standard is cit

6、ed in this Standard. JIS Z 2300 Glossary of terms used in nondestructive testing 2. Definitions For the purpose of this Standard, the definitions given in JIS Z 2300 apply. 3. Assessment items on performance 3.1 General items The general items on performance assessment of ultrasonic testing instrume

7、nts shall be as follows: (1) The performance of transmitter part shall be measured by 4.1. ( 2 ) The performance of receiver part shall be measured by 4.2. ( 3 ) The performance of time base part shall be measured by 4.3. ( 4 ) The time resolution shall be measured by 4.4. ( 5 ) The performance of d

8、istance amplitude compensation circuit shall be measured by 4.5. (6) The performance of gate circuits shall be measured by 4.6. 3.2 Items on principal performance The items on principal performance that must always be measured shall be as follows. The assessment items other than the principal items,

9、 their contents and ranges shall be subject to the agreement between the parties concerned with delivery. (1) The items for transmitter part are specified in 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.1.3, and 4.1.5. ( 2 ) The items for receiver part are specified in 4.2.1, 4.2.2, 4.2.4, and 4.2.6. ( 3 ) The items for time ba

10、se part are specified in 4.3.1, 4.3.2 and 4.3.3. ( 4 ) The item for time resolution is specified in 4.4. Methods of performance assessment 4.1 Performance of transmitter part 4 . 1 . 1 Effective output impedance The effective output impedance of transmitter part shall be measured as follows. (1) Ap

12、paratus (a) Oscilloscope The frequency shall be 100 MHz or over, and the apparatus shall be calibrated before use. (b) Terminating resistor The resistor shall be 50 ohms of non- inductive. ( 2 ) Measurement method (2.1) Open the output terminal T of the transmitter part of the ultrasonic testing ins

13、trument as shown in Fig. 1, measure the voltage with an oscilloscope, and record it as V,. (2.2) Connect the terminating resistor Ra to the output terminal T as shown in Fig. 2 , measure the voltage of the transmitted pulse across the terminal with an oscilloscope, and record it as V,. (1) Apparatus Apparatus shall be t

18、he same as for 4.1.1 except the follows. (a) Frequency counter The input frequency shall be 1 M H z or over, and the number of display digits shall be 6 or more. (b) Protection circuit This circuit is t o protect the input circuit of the frequency counter against the high voltage of transmitted puls

19、e, providing attenuation of 20 t o 40 dB. (2) Measurement method Setup of the ultrasonic testing instrument and the apparatus shall be as shown i n Fig. 2 when an oscilloscope is used for measurement, and as shown i n Fig. 3 when a counter is used for measurement. (2.3) As shown in Fig. 4 , observe the leading edge of the transmitted pulse, and measure the time TR between 10 % an

(1.4) External attenuator The external attenuator shall meet the following requirements. (a) Operating frequency range DC to 100 M H z or over (b) Attenuation range O to 80 dB or ove

(a) If the ultrasonic testing instrument is provided with a band-pass filter, the frequency of the burst wave signal shall be the central frequency of receiving band (or test frequency).
