The measuring instrument s

、hall comprise an appropriate high-frequency oscilla- tor, a measuring probe (an induction coil), an impedance detector or the like, and shall be appropriately controlled by using the standard sheet for control in clause 6. 6 Coating thickness standard sheet The coating thickness standard sheet shall

、 be as follows. a) Standard sheet for control The standard sheet for control is the standard sheet used for the detection for the function of a measuring instrument related to the reproducibility of a measured value and the calibration for the measur- ing instrument related to the preparation of the

、 standard sheet for calibration, and that stated in 2 a) of Annex is used. b) Standard sheet for calibration The standard sheet for calibration is the stan- dard sheet used for the calibration for the measuring instrument related to the production management and product test, and either one stated i

、n 2 b) or 2 c) of Annex is used. 7 Test piece The test piece shall be as follows. a) The measuring position shall be the significant surface of a product. However, when the product can not be tested, the test piece made of the same material(1) and prepared under the same treating condition(2) of coa

、ting as those of the product may be used. b) The test piece is previously cleaned by using a soft cloth or the like dipped in a suitable solvent (3) depending on the stains. Notes (1) The grade, temper grade, and surface state before treatment of a material shall be the same as those of the product.

、 (2) The pretreatment and treatment of a coating shall be carried out in the same bath and under the same condition as those for the prod- uct in order to obtain the same performance as that of the product. (3) The suitable solvents herein refers to acetone, ethanol, ethyl ether, methyl ethyl ketone

、, etc. and those which corrode a test piece or form a protective coating shall not be used. 8 Operation The operation is executed in the following order. a) A probe is allowed to abut against the standard sheet for calibration, and the scale (an indicated value) is adjusted(4) according to the calib

、ration method des- ignated for the measuring instrument. In the case where calibration is carried out by using a plastic film as the standard sheet for calibration, the calibration is executed on a basis metal whose material and shape are the same as those of the sample. b) A probe is allowed to abu

、t against the measuring part of a test piece (within a range of about 8 mm diameter), the scale is read, and the procedure is repeated five or more times. Note (4) In the case where the measurement is executed continuously the cali- bration is carried out appropriately midway. Copyright Japanese Sta

Standard dimensions and shape: Standard dimensions are 40 mm x 40 mm with 1.5 mm to 2.0 mm in thickness, and the surface roughness is 0.1 Ra or under. Coating thickness: The coating thickness

、is selected according to the calibra- tion method for a measuring instrument and the coating thickness of an object to be measured. Coating thicknesses at several positions where come in con- tact with the standard sheet for control is measured by the microscopical method, and the average is taken a

Note (1) A standard sheet for control made of another ma- terial (which chemical synthesis of homogeneous coating is possible) may be separately manufac- tured. Indi

、cated value: b) Standard sheet for calibration (anodic oxide coating) Basis metal: The material is the same as that of the product, and the thickness is 0.8 mm or over. Coating thickness: The coating thickness is selected according to the calibra- tion method for the measuring instrument and the coa

、ting thickness of an object to be measured. An indicated value is determined according to the follow- ing procedure. 1) For the prepared standard sheet for calibration, the coating thickness of the central part is measured using the eddy current measuring instrument calibrated by the standard sheet
