Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the practice for brazing of the plates and tubes made of carbon steel, alloy steel, copper, copper alloy, etc. of not more than 3.2 mm in thickness. Remarks: The standards shown in the Attache

5、d Table 1 are cited in this Standard. 2. The symbolization of brazed joint shall be as shown in Table 1 and the symbols for brazing method shall be as in Table 2. Kinds of base metal T

11、he base metal used for brazing shall be carbon 4.2 against harmful flaw, rust, stain, etc. likely to affect the brazing. Handling of base metal The base metal shall be handled with care 5. Heating apparatus and equipments (1) The heating apparatus shall be capable of uniformly heating the part to be

12、 brazed and adequately controlling the heating temperature and the heating time. - Moreover, the one suitable for the quality, shape and dimension of base metal and the kind of brazing filler metal shall be selected. (2) When using the flame heaters, they shall have the performance equal or superior

13、 to that specified in JIS B 6801. 6. Brazing filler metal and flux (1) The brazing filler metal conforming to JIS Z 3261, JIS Z 3262, JIS Z 3264, JIS Z 3265, JIS Z 3266, JIS Z 3267 and JIS Z 3268, or that equivalent to them shall be used according to the quality of base metal and the purpose of use.

14、 (2) The flux or atmosphere suitable for use shall be selected among powdery, pasty, liquid and gaseous Ilux and inert atmosphere and reducing atmosphere according to the quality of base metal, kind of brazing filler metal, brazing method, etc. When brazing copper by using phosphor copper brazing fi

15、ller metal, it may be the case not to use the flux. (3) The brazing filler metal to be used shall be free from defects harmful to brazing such as rust, foreign substance, etc. (4) The brazing filler metal and flux shall be stored paying attention to moisture absorption , deterioration, etc. The requ

16、ired quantity of brazing filler metal shall be determined taking the operation to fill the gap, to form the fillet and so on into account. (5) 7. Preparation for brazing (1) The brazing method suitable for the property, shape, dimension and intended use of the base metal shall be determined and heat

17、ing apparatus , equipment , jigs , clamps , etc. shall be prepared. For jigs and clamps, the suitable materials such as refractory brick, ceramic, graphite, heat resisting steel, etc. shall be used according to brazing temperature and brazing methods. (2) The brazing filler metal and flux of suitabl

18、e shape and dimension shall be selected in the light of brazing method and working efficiency. 19、itted without license from IHS -,-,- JIS Z*3621 72 4933608 0533656 7T8 4 2 3621-1992 (3) (4) The surface to be brazed shall be cleaned where appropriate by means of using acid, alkali, etc. , by mechanical method such as grinder, file, abrasive paper, etc. or by degreasing and washing by using alcoh

20、ol, acetone or other organic solvents , surface active agent , water, warm water, etc. When using organic solvent, full attention shall be paid to its handling. The gap of joint to be brazed shall be determined to the appropriate dimension taking the heat expansion at the brazing temperature into co

21、nsideration. Informative reference : The recommended gap at the brazing temper- ature shall be as shown in Informative reference Table 1. Informative reference Table 1. Matters to be attended in brazing (1) In order to obtain full strength of brazing,

23、 it is recommended to make the brazing area larger than the cross area of base metal as in the lap joint in Table 1 where appropriate. If the expansion of air and arising gas by heating-happens due to the shape of base metal, a vent hole shall be provided in order to avoid incomplete permeation from

24、 brazing parts. When flux is used, the brazing surfaces and their boundaries of the metals to be joined shall be evenly coated with the flux before the metals are set up. (2) (3) (4) In preplaced brazing, the brazing filler metal of estimated quantity in the most effective shape shall be used. Copyr

26、uting brazing, attention shall be paid to the selection of types of brazing filler metal and flux, shape and dimensions of base metal, brazing conditions, etc. to prevent lack of permeation of brazing parts a and occurrence of void. (6) In heating, method of heating whole joint parts uniformly shall

27、 be adopted. (7) The case where the property of base metal changes due to brazing should be taken into account. (8) The heating temperature shall be in general referred to the brazing temperature (informative reference value) specified in JIS Z 3261, JIS Z 3262, JIS Z 3264, JIS Z 3265, JIS Z 3266 an

28、d JIS Z 3267. (9) In either case of brazing method, preplaced or face-fed, attention shall be paid to the quantity of brazing filler metal, to prevent the brazing filler metal from flowing out of the part being brazed. (10) Attention shall be paid and the suitable supporting method shall be taken in

29、 order to avoid moving base metal, clearance, etc. in the process of brazing. a (11) Brazed joint shall be such that the permeation from brazing filler metal is perfect, it has no defects detrimental to service and the appearance of brazed part is not affected. (12) Attention shall be paid during br

30、azing to early discovery of faults in the base metal and brazed part, and necessary countermeasures shall be taken immediately. 9. Post-brazing treatment (3) (4) 10. On completion of brazing, residues shall be thoroughly washed away with warm water or water, or removed by. mechanical methods. Where

31、pickling is specially required, care shall be taken not to dissolve the brazed parts. Further, for eliminating residual acid, the joint shall be neutralized with an alkaline solution and thoroughly washed with water. Where heating after brazing is needed, the melting point (solidus curve temperature

32、) of brazing filler metal shall be taken into consideration to avoid remelting of the brazed parts. On completion of brazing, the condition of residues and fillet, shape, dimensions, pinholes, permeation from brazed parts, cracks and occurrence of distortion shall be checked, and suitable treatment

33、shall be made. Inspection On completion of brazing, the brazed part shall be inspected by the adequate methods such as visual test, airtight test, etc. as to whether there is a defect or not. 11. brazing method, form of brazing, base metal, pre-treatment , brazing filler metal, flux or atmosphere, a

Safety and health When working in brazing, special attention shall be paid to the following points: (1) In order to protect the hand and eye from heat and light, the gloves and eye protectors specified in JIS T 8113, JIS T 8141 and JIS

36、T 8142 or the appropriate protectors similar to those shall be used. (2) At the time of brazing, the gas and the fume generated from flux and melted brazing filler metal shall be removed. (3) Working place shall be clean and equipped with the facilities for venti- lation and the like, and shall be t

37、hat where the work can be performed with safety, so as to do excellent brazing. Attached Table 1.
