The
10、creation of basic name and basic name modifiers for a product are further characterized as follows and as shown in Tables 1 and 2. 3.2Composition of Titles: Each title shall consist of a basic name followed by a series of basic name modifiers. The basic name consists of a noun-word or a noun-phrase
11、used as a single definer. Basic name modifiers shall be in a form acceptable to the G-3A committee members and shall be applied as shown in Figures 1 and 2. 3.3Basic Name: The first part of the title shall be the basic name which is either a basic-noun or a basic-noun-phrase. For purposes of this pr
12、ocedure, basic-noun and basic-noun-phrases are categorized as follows: a.Coupling: Includes configurations such as ground support, quick disconnect, threadless, fixed cavity, variable cavity, quick release, V-Band, and grooved. b.Coupling Sub-Assembly: Consists of nut assembly, body, washer, and ret
13、ainer. c.Clamp: Includes configurations such as T-Bolt, Eye-Bolt, V-Band. 3.4Modifier: The modifier shall immediately follow the basic name or basic-name-phrase in the title. For purposes of this procedure, modifiers shall be selected from Figures 1 and 2 and shall appear in the title as applicable
14、in sequence. 3.5Proprietary Names: Trade names, copyright names, or other proprietary names applying exclusively to the product of one company shall not be used unless the item cannot be adequately described because of technical involvement in construction or composition of the item. However, should the use of abbreviations become necessary, they shall be used in accordance with MIL-STD-12 except the following: a.Basic name shall not be abbreviated. b.Basic name modifiers may use abbreviations.
