Instead, the proposal author will be asked to review the comments and adjust the proposals and/or supporting rationale as the author

、determines to be appropriate. The preliminary review process is an informal mechanism that provides authors with the opportunity to refi ne their proposals before they advance to the next stage in ULs standards development process. In some cases, the author of the proposals may choose to discontinue

、riters Laboratories The word “monitoring” is added after the word “control” in order to clarify the scope and align the scope with the standard title. The category covers control and monitoring equipment, so the scope should indicate such. In addition, the term “LP-Gas” was added to indicate that th

、ese requirements are also used to cover equipment that is intended to be utilized as control and monitoring equipment for LP-Gas dispensers. These requirements were always used for this application, but this revision clarifi es the scope of the standard. PROPOSAL 1.1 These requirements cover electri

、inary Review Only: Clarifi cation of requirements for non-metallic parts RATIONALE Proposal submitted by: Joe Bablo, Underwriters Laboratories 5.5.1 The entire revision is to change the reference to the clauses that are required for nonmetallic enclosures. The actual requirements do not change, but

、due to other revisions, the references were required to change in order to maintain the intent. 5.5.3 The original text was deleted as this text referred generically to a number of concerns, but did not provide any information on how to determine compliance. The new text provides the same intent, bu

、t references the test requirements directly. In addition, an exception was added that allows the use of nonmetallic material that already has a rated fl ame rating. This does not change the requirement. 5.5.4 A new clause was added to clarify the intent of 5.5.3. Section 35 contained an aging requir

、ement, but there was no requirement in the standard to ever have to apply the clause. The intent was clear, so the clause was applied as intended, however, the new revision clarifi es the requirement. 5.5.5 A new clause addressing metallic coatings applied to plastic enclosures for EMI purposes. The

、 clause allows for the use of a material complying with UL 746C. Again, this requirement was applied, but never stated. PROPOSAL 5.5.1 A nonmetallic material can be used for part or all of a general purpose enclosure when it complies with the requirements in 5.5.2 and 35.1.1 5.5.5. OCTOBER 26, 2007S
