2、s Standards Service for Hose and Hose Assemblies for Dispensing Flammable Liquids, UL 330 SUBJECT: Request for Comments on the Proposed Change from Listing to Component Recognition of Gasoline Hose; PROPOSED EFFECTIVE DATE SUMMARY OF TOPICS This bulletin proposes the following: Gasoline hose current
3、ly Listed under the category Gasoline Hose (M WHT) would be transferred to a new Component Recognition category covering hose for flammable liquids. COMMENTS DUE: March 29,2001 No revisions to the Standard for Hose and Hose Assemblies for Dispensing Flammable Liquids, UL 330, will be necessary to tr
4、ansfer gasoline hose from Listing to Component Recognition. Questions regarding this transfer should be directed to the responsible UL Staff. Please see Appendix A of this bulletin regarding designated responsibility for the subject product categories. PROPOSED EFFECTIVE DATE The transfer of gasolin
5、e hose from Listing to Component Recognition will require that the hose be marked with the Recognized Component Mark instead of the Listing Mark. Therefore, UL proposes that this transfer become effective twelve months after announcement of the change. This is intended to provide hose manufacturers
6、with sufficient time to submit a copy of their proposed Recognized Component Mark artwork. Please note that this also includes the time that will be needed by UL to review the artwork and for manufacturers to make any necessary revisions. RATIONALE For years, UL has investigated and Listed gasoline
7、hose (MWHT) without couplings under the first through fifth editions of the Standard for Gasoline Hose, UL 330, and the sixth edition of the Standard for Hose and Hose Assemblies for Dispensing Flammable Liquids, UL 330. When a coupled assembly using Listed gasoline hose is Listed, a second Listing
8、Mark is necessary for the assembly. When the Listing Mark only appears on the hose of a hose assembly, the coupled assembly is not Listed. This can cause confusion for the consumer and others. 10、a new category for hose for flammable liquids. The hose manufacturers would no longer apply the UL Listing Mark to the uncoupled hose. Component hose produced under the UL Component Recognition Program would bear the Recognized Component Mark. Several years ago, the category for LP-Gas Hose was simi
11、larly changed from a Listing to a Component Recognition category with a smooth transition. IMPACT This proposal will not require a retest of currently Listed products but will require that the hose be marked with the Recognized Component Mark by the effective date. This will require submittal of a c
12、opy of the proposed Recognized Component Mark artwork to UL for review. PROPOSAL UL proposes that gasoline hose currently Listed under category Gasoline Hose (MWHT) be transferred to Component Recognition under a new category for hose for flammable liquids.
