For Preliminary Review Only: New exception to 12.1.2.9 for power supply cord attachment plug rat

3、ings for appliances not constituting a continuous load. 4. For Preliminary Review Only: Deletion of the heading “INSTRUCTIONS PERTAINING TO A RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS” from 58.1. 5. For Preliminary Review Only: Deletion of redundant marking requirements for outdoor use. COM

The paragraph has been reformatted to clarify the types of appliances required to incorpora

9、te thermal or overload protection for the motor. PROPOSAL 21.3.1 An appliance shall incorporate thermal or overload protection in accordance with 21.3.2 if it is intended to be permanently connected, continuous-duty, and manually started, employing a motor rated 1 hp (746 W output) or less, or remot

10、ely or automatically controlled. 21.3.1 An appliance shall incorporate thermal or overload protection in accordance with 21.3.2 if it is intended to be: a) Permanently connected, continuous-duty, and manually started, employing a motor rated 1 hp (746 W output) or less; b) Remotely controlled; or c)

The allowable cord types for portable appliances are specifi ed in 12.1.2.5, and the allowable cord types f

15、or stationary appliances are specifi ed in 12.2.1.2. However, 12.1.2.5 currently does not indicate that the cord types specifi ed are for portable appliances (only), and does not reference 12.2.1.2 for the cord types allowable for stationary appliances. The proposed revisions will clarify the above.

16、 PROPOSAL 12.1.2.5 Type SJ, SJE, SJO, SJOO, SJT, SJTO, or SJTOO cord is required when thea portable appliance is intended for commercial or industrial use, and Type SP-2, SPE-2, or SPT-2 when thea portable appliance is intended for household use. A heavier cord type at least equally serviceable for

17、the application may be used. See 12.2.1.2 for cord types allowed for stationary appliances. 18、or STOO cord and an attachment plug for supply connection. The investigation of such a feature will include consideration of the utility of the appliance and the necessity of having it readily detachable from its source of supply by means of a plug. A heavier cord type at least equally serviceable f

Where the operation of a product is such that the load will not constitute a continuous load on the bran

23、ch circuit, it is permissible for the attachment plug to have a current rating not less than the current rating of the product. PROPOSAL 12.1.2.9 The attachment plug shall have an ampere rating not less than 125% of the rated current of an appliance, or, when the appliance is not provided with a cur

24、rent rating, the measured input current under maximum normal load conditions, and a voltage rating equal to the rated voltage of the appliance. If an appliance can be adapted for use on two or more different values of voltage by fi eld alteration of internal connections, the attachment plug provided

25、 with the appliance shall be acceptable for the voltage for which the appliance is connected when shipped from the factory. See 56.1.9. Exception No. 1: A stationary appliance, marked in accordance with 56.3.3, shall employ an attachment plug rated not less than the current rating of the appliance o

26、r, when the appliance is not provided with a current rating, the measured input current under maximum normal load conditions. Exception No. 2: When the appliance load does not constitute a continuous load (3 h or more) on the branch circuit, the current rating of the attachment plug shall not be les

32、ditional heading required by 58.1 is not commonly used within other appliance standards, so its deletion has been proposed. PROPOSAL 58.1 For household appliances, instructions pertaining to a risk of fi re, electric shock, or injury to persons shall warn the user of reasonably foreseeable risks and

33、 state the precautions to be taken to reduce such risks. Such instructions shall be preceded by the heading INSTRUCTIONS PERTAINING TO A RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS or the equivalent. 5.
