Then a large number of Bible-related idioms, mottoes, allusions, proper nouns and day-to-day words arose, and they have become important parts widely used in English language. At the same time, the influence of the Holy Bible

5、 on English language in the British and American literary works is also quite clear. Why is the Bible so popular and wide-spread in the English world and why does it influence an increasing number of Christians and non-Christians in their literature creation? I think this is meaningful and necessary

6、 to discuss because it can help us make good use of the Bible in our cultural communication and literature creation.There are three main reasons to explain the question above. First, the Bible makes a large influence on the English people and their lives. The statistic of 70% people believing in Chr

7、istianity shows that English people life is highly related to the Bible. They read the Bible, go to the church and pray every week. Therefore, the Bible exists everywhere in their work. Second, English language is based on English culture which the Bible plays a significant role in. Language researc

8、hers say that one language is usually based on one culture. According to this theory, we can see the Bible exists everywhere in their language. Third, the Bible has a large vocabulary describing love and tolerance. As we know, the Bible preaches love and tolerance, and there are a countless number o

9、f words and phrases to describe and narrate something related to love and tolerance and so on. English people tend to quote these words and phrases directly from the Bible.The Bible is the classic works in Christianity, and it provides the British literature with inexhaustible materials. So the Bibl

10、e has deep influence on British literature. British writers use stories of the Bible by three main methods. First, they quote persons names or stories of the Bible as the characters names or plots of the creations from the Bible directly. Sometimes they make some changes on the original stories. Som

Second, they make use of symbolic meaning of the Bible by some technical such as simile, metaphor and symbolism, so that the stories could exert a great influence on contrasting with the new products.
