Margaret Mitchell is an American author and journalist. One novel by Mitchell was published during her lifetime, which is the

9、 American Civil War-era novel, Gone with the Wind. Margaret Mitchell began writing Gone with the Wind in 1926 to pass the time while recovering from an auto-crash injury that refused to heal. In April 1935, Harold Latham of Macmillan, an editor who was looking for new fiction, read what she had writ

After Latham agreed to publish the book, Mitchell worked for another six months checking the historical references, and rewrote the opening chapter several times. Mitchell and her husband John Marsh, a copy editor by trade, edited the final version of the

As to what became of her star-crossed lovers, Rhett and Scarlett, after the novel ended, Mitchell did not know, and said, For all I know, Rhett may have found someone else who was less difficult.” Gone

The name of the main family, Jia (賈, pronounced ji), is a homophone with the Chinese character ji 假, meaning false or fictitious. Another family in the book has the surname Zhen (甄, pronounce

16、d zhn), a homophone for the word real (真). Thus, Cao Xueqin suggests that the novels family is both a realistic reflection and a fictional or dream version of his own family.Besides, the protagonists of the two great novels, Scarlett in Gone with the Wind and Lin Daiyu in A Dream of Red Mansions hav

In the west, on the bank of the Sacred River, beside the Stone of Three Incarnations there grew a Vermilion Pearl Plant which was watered every day with sweet dew by the attendant Shen

As the months and years went by and the Vermilion Pearl Plant imbibed the essences of heaven and earth and the nourishment of rain and dew, it cast off its plant nature and took human form, albeit only that of a girl.
