1、1、 踩歌堂Caigetang (singing get-together) one of the most popular recreational activities of the dong people.it is sponsored by one village or by several villages jiontly,usually on festival or jubilant days.after the beginning of the recreation,the singing-master come into the singing place playing pi
2、pa as well as singing antiphonally,girls dressed in splendid attire come into one by one and silently follow the singing-master in the line to walk clock-wise around the place.2、 吃新节 chixinjie(festival of eating newly ripe grains)The dong people living in guizhou province habitually hold the festiva
3、l of eating newly ripe grains,but the day and the activities of the festival will be varies with the different groups and various regions.in general it will be held in the sixth or seventh lunar month when the grains put forth ears or are ripe.on the occasion the local people will prepare some offer
4、inga,which are mainly newly ripe grains or cooked rice as well as fish,meatand wine,to sacrifice their ancestors and to congratulate a harvest beforehand.at the same time the hore racing,playing the lusheng pipes and other activities will be held. 3、 打油茶 Dayoucha(Tea-Oil Tea)Popular food of the dong
5、 people and also special food for guests on luckly days.It is made in the following way,First fry some rice in tea-oil until it turns yellow and then mix tea leaves into the pot with some water to boil.The tea thus made has a mellow and srong smell.Then put the boiling tea water into the bowls with
6、fried cooked rice,soya beans,glutinous rice cakes and sesame and some salt,or oven some chopped shallot,singer bits and Chinesse pepper.It is nutritious and tastes fresh and delicious with a special flavour.4、 吊脚楼Diaojiaolou Dwelling houses of the Miao and Dong ethnic groups in the southeast Guizhou
7、 province,built along hillsides supported by long wooden poles with wooden planks as the floors.The rooms upstairs are for family members with the places.The cencral part is a placed with a shrine.The rooms downstairs are used for storing timbers or fodders,miscellaneous thing and keeping domestic a
8、nimals.5、 侗戏Dongxi(Dong Opera)A popular opera of the Dong people in the counties of Liping,Congjiang,Rongjiang and Sanjiang in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Tongdao in Hunan Province usually performed in slack seasons,especially in the first and the second lunar month.It is developed from oth
9、er opero on the basis of narration of stories accompanied by singing with various beautiful melodies in the Dong language.6、 侗族大歌Dongzu Dage (Grand Dong Chorus) A kind of multipart chorus, bright and beautiful in melody, sonorous and touching in tone. It is dividied into mens chorus and womens choru
10、s, of themes all about historical event, ceremonies, expression of feeling, childrens play, etc. During festivals or activities of celebration, village will form teams of best singers to compete with each other in the drumtower, usually till daybreak.7、 风雨桥Fengyuqiao (also Huaqiao, Roored Bridge) A
11、particular thoroughfare ture popular in the areas of the Dong ethnic group with stone piers and wooden bridge floor,terra cotta roof, rains on each side of the floor and beaches for people to have a rest or s chat against rain and sun. On each head or in the centre of the bridge a tower in the shape
12、 of a pagoda is built with curling eaves and triumphal arches decorated with carved patterns and drawings. The most famous one is Dipingqiao in Liping county.8、 鼓楼Gulou (Drum Tower) Meeting place for the Dong people in the counties of Liping, Chongjiang, Rongjiang in Guzhou province. It is the symbo
13、l of a village or a patriarchal clan,viewed as the record of existence, rise,and decline, also a symbol of power, a central place for discussion, leisure, recreation and social intercourse.The drum tower are peculiar in structure, usually with four corners like a palace or like pagoda with many stor

15、ng as three hundred years, according to the legend, and it is very popular around Liping and Zhaoxing in southeast Guizhou province.The recreation will be carries out after the third day of the first lunar month between the villagea, and the participants are mainly the young people. 17、changes.13、 行歌坐月14、 腌鱼Yanyun(Salted Fish) Typical traditional food of the Dong ethnic group with special delicious salty and hot taste. The way of making it is to select living fat carps.take out the intestines, cost the fish with table salt and then stuff the mixture of poedered chilly and glutinou

At last put the mixture and fishi into a wooden barrel layer and layer, cover it with palm leaves, seal it with rice straw and then put a stone on it .Three months later, the carps become delicious food.15、 月贺YueheTanslateration from the Dong language ,meaning a group of guest
19、s, a rather common social intercouse of the Dong people.It is not a visit by relatives but a visit made by people of other villagea,somewhat characteristic of an alliance.There are three kinds of activities of Yuehe: 1 Celebration of new year from the third day to the thirteeth day of the first luna
20、r month; 2 Celebration from the fifteenth to the seventeenth days of the eighth lunar month; 3 Celebration of the autumn harvest on the selected day after the autumn harvest is done.The major activity of Yuehe is singing. 16、 增冲鼓楼Zengchong Golou( Drum Tower in Zengchong Village)Built in Zengchong Village of the Dong people in southeast Guizhou province ,the drum tower ,one of the major history than the other extant ones inside Guizhou province ,the hexagon tower has a height of about fifteen meters and thirteen storeys, and its structure is complex and its model unique.
