1、Welcome to the unit课堂设计指导思想:通过指导学生了解世界遗产,拓展学生的文化知识,培养学生的人文素养; 同时强化中国文化意识,培养学生爱国情怀。通过一系列课堂活动,激发学生用英语了解,描述,表达世界文化遗产,同时为下一堂阅读课做好铺垫。Teaching aims:1. Students are to be informed of the Four Great Ancient Civilizations and famous buildings in these countries.2. Students will be asked to talk about some ma

2、gnificent structures, including the Statue of Zeus, the Taj Mahal, the city of Pompeii and the Potala Palace;3. Students are required to get involved in the discussion, practice their spoken English and participate in all the designed activities;4. Students are expected to be able to discuss over th

3、e related topic and develop their sense of culture protection.Teaching procedures:Step 1 Introduction1. The teachers start the lesson with the song Rivers of Babylon.Q1. Do you know the name of the song? (River of Babylon)Q2. Do you know anything about Ancient Babylon?(Ancient Babylon was one of the

4、 four great ancient civilizations.)2. The teacher introduces Ancient Babylon.Q: Besides Ancient Babylon, what are the other three ancient civilizations?(China, India, Ancient Egypt)【设计说明】通过学生感兴趣的歌曲引入主题;通过歌曲名引出四大文明古国。Step 2 Picture ShowShow students many pictures of great buildings of the Four great
