3、001, including amendment A1:2004.EN 13164 is a “harmonized” European Standard and fully takes into account the requirements of the European Commission mandate M/103, Thermal insulating materials and products, given under the EU Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC), and is intended to lead to
4、 CE marking. The date of applicability ofEN 13164 as a “harmonized” European Standard, i.e. the date after which this standard may be used for CE marking purposes, is subject to an announcement in the OfficialJournal of the European Communities.EN 13164 is the subject of transitional arrangements ag
5、reed under the European Commission mandate. The Member States have agreed a nominal transition period for the co-existence of EN 13164 and their corresponding national standard(s). It is intended that this period will comprise a nominal nine month period during which any required changes to national
6、 regulations are to be made, followed by a further nominal12 month period for the implementation of CE marking. By the end of this co-existence period, any conflicting national standards will be withdrawn or amended to remove conflicts. In the UK, the corresponding national standard is: BS 3837-2:19
7、90, Expanded polystyrene boards Part 2: Specification for extruded boards;and based on this nominal transition period of 21 months, BS 3837-2:1990 will be withdrawn or amended at the latest by March 2003.The UK participation in the preparation of EN 13164:2001 was entrusted to TechnicalCommittee PRI
8、/72, Rigid cellular materials, which has the responsibility to:aid enquirers to understand the text;present to the responsible European committee any enquiries on the interpretation, or proposals for change, and keep the UK interests informed;monitor related international and European developments a
